ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

We are in search of a highly skilled and inspirational Sous Chef, responsible for supporting the vision, culture and success of Bow & Bend. The ideal candidate will bring a high level of enthusiasm and collaboration, with a keen ability to maintain a team of top performers, ensuring the highest level of food creativity & quality.

Primary accountabilities include:

  • Consistently providing the highest quality of service to our customers and staff alike, setting a shining example for our team.
  • Developing and creating exciting new menu items that showcase the vision of our restaurant, using local ingredients to craft an extraordinary culinary experience.
  • Maintaining the consistent quality of our offerings by testing products and refining delivery methods.
  • Ensuring the highest level of staff satisfaction through training, coaching, counseling, developing, recognizing and rewarding our staff.
  • Providing exceptional instruction to cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of menu items.
  • Assisting the Executive Chef with requisitioning of food and kitchen supplies, maintaining approved food cost and within budget.
  • Ensuring proper physical working conditions including kitchen tools and equipment.
  • Maintaining a safe, secure and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing sanitation standards and procedures, complying with health and legal regulations.
  • Maintaining professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends in the industry, reviewing professional publications, benchmarking best practices, and participating in community events.

ABOUT YOU

  • A Red-Seal certified, seasoned culinary professional with a flair for innovation possessing a minimum of one year of experience in a similar leading role in an upscale Restaurant operation in a downtown city center.
  • Someone with an outstanding work ethic, along with a track record of reliability, punctuality and an approachable demeanor, with a strong commitment to safety.
  • Someone who has solid leadership skills, adept at training, coaching and motivating a team of culinary professionals, passionate about helping them develop technique and artistry.
  • An exceptional problem-solver, knowing how to troubleshoot, resolve situations efficiently, with the ability to shift priorities as needed, including handling customer or staff situations that may occur outside of typical work hours.
  • Able to work well under pressure and enjoy a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communicator who values teamwork and collaboration.
  • Able to combine strategic planning and day-to-day management.
  • Able to work a variety of shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Physically able to stand, sit, walk, push, pull, crouch, and lift or carry objects up to 40 pounds or more.
