Job summary

North York General Hospital is seeking a skilled Sonographer to perform ultrasound examinations and deliver patient- and family-centered care within our Medical Imaging team. You will contribute to teaching and clinical collaboration while upholding health and safety standards.

The role emphasizes accurate imaging, equipment management, and support for physicians, staff, patients and families in a fast-paced hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of a recognized sonography program from an accredited institution.
• Current registration with the CMRITO is required.
• Current registration with Sonography Canada is preferred.
• Strong medical imaging background is preferred.
• Minimum one year as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer is preferred.
• Hospital experience is an asset.
• Bilingualism in French/English is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Perform all ultrasound imaging examinations.
• Ensure imaging equipment is in proper working order and necessary supplies are on hand.
• Record and compute supply inventory for assigned area.
• Correlate history, physical findings, lab reports, etc., with examinations required.
• Work under pressure in a quick and efficient manner.
• Demonstrate excellent clinical and technical skills.
• Work effectively with the imaging team.
• Operate all the equipment in the ultrasound area.
• Assist in training ultrasound students.

Position Summary

Sonographer, Ultrasound, Medical Imaging

Your goal in this position is to perform examinations in the imaging modality of ultrasound and provide excellent patient and family centered care in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner. You also have great interpersonal and communication skills, and you effortlessly connect with physicians, staff, patients, and families. This position supports the Hospital’s academic mandate by advancing care through teaching and learning and/or transforming care through research and innovation. This position contributes to the shared responsibility of ensuring health and safety policies are followed to provide for a healthy environment for staff, physicians, volunteers , learners, patients and families.

On a practical level, you will

• Perform all ultrasound imaging examinations
• Ensure imaging equipment is in proper working order and necessary supplies are on hand

• Current registration with the CMRITO is required

• Bilingualism in French/English is an asset

This is a Full Time Temporary (6 months) Position with 8 hour shifts, Day, Evening, Weekends and On Call shifts in the Ultrasound, Medical Imaging department.
