Job summary

1 Hotel Mayfair is part of Starwood Hotels and is seeking a Sommelier to curate bespoke wine experiences and manage the wine cellar with precision. You will inspire guests and Front of House teams through your expertise and enthusiasm.

Ideal candidates have 1+ year as Sommelier, WSET Level 2 or higher, and strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, vintages and pairings. Luxury hospitality experience is highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Passion for wine and guest experiences in luxury settings.
• Minimum 1 year as Junior Sommelier or Sommelier.
• WSET Level 2 or higher.
• Strong knowledge of regions, varietals, vintages, pairings.
• Experience managing wine inventory and cellar operations.
• Ability to train staff and share knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Curate bespoke wine experiences for guests.
• Manage wine cellar, inventory, and stock control.
• Provide wine training to Front of House teams.
• Collaborate with chefs on pairings and menus.

We're currently seeking a Sommelier with a genuine passion for wine, exceptional product knowledge, and a natural talent for delivering thoughtful, personalized service. You'll curate bespoke wine experiences for our guests, manage our wine cellar with precision, and inspire both guests and team members through your expertise and enthusiasm.

Inside Tip: A refined palate is important, but the ability to connect with guests, anticipate their preferences, and confidently recommend the perfect pairing is what truly sets a great Sommelier apart.

About You...

• Passionate about wine, hospitality, and creating exceptional guest experiences.
• Previous experience as a Junior Sommelier or Sommelier for at least 1 year.
• WSET Level 2 qualification or higher.
• Strong knowledge of wine regions, varietals, vintages, food pairings, and tasting notes.
• Highly organised with experience managing wine inventory, stock control, and cellar operations.
• Confident delivering wine training and sharing knowledge with Front of House teams.
• Comfortable using Microsoft Teams, Excel, Birchstreet, Canva, and other hospitality systems.
• Previous luxury hotel or high-end restaurant experience is highly desirable.
• A natural communicator who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys working collaboratively.
• Flexible and willing to meet the demands of a luxury hospitality operation.
