Job summary

D2L is seeking a Solutions Architect to help customers connect their tech ecosystems with D2L products. You will partner with Solutions Engineers to scope complex requirements, present technical solutions, and influence sales opportunities. This role combines deep product knowledge with customer-facing advisory work.

You will work with a distributed team, travel occasionally, and contribute to governance of integration standards, security, and data exchange for enterprise LMS deployments.

Qualifications

  • Experience in education technology, particularly LMS administration/integration with Brightspace.
  • Experience in technical sales, consulting, or client-facing roles.
  • Understanding of enterprise software sales processes and sales support.

Responsibilities

  • Sales support: scope complex technical requirements and present solutions.
  • Engage with prospective and current customers to understand technical challenges and goals.
  • Design, document, and present solutions for sales opportunities involving integrations, security, data exchange, and implementation.
  • Mitigate risks that could threaten technical win in sales opportunities.
  • Serve as a liaison between implementation and sales to ensure knowledge transfer for successful delivery.
  • Create enablement materials and collaborate with internal SMEs to fill information gaps.

As a Solutions Architect,youare the maintechnicalescalation pointforourSolutionsEngineers (alsoknown asSales Engineersor SEs). Whentechnical challenges go beyond the scopeor expectation of SE knowledge, you willassistwith scopingrequirements and presentingtechnicalsolutions to helpwin sales opportunities.Additionally, you will serve in an advisory capacity for selling and positioning implementationandconsulting servicesnecessaryto achieveacustomer’stechnical goals,in collaboration with D2L’s Services teams.

Youdemonstratea strong senseof urgencyand understand the concepts of providingan excellentcustomer experiencewithin a sales supportrole.Youhave an equal love for technical solutioning(the how)and deeply understanding a customer’sbusiness challenges, technical requirements, and goals(the why).

Major Responsibilities (How Will I Make an Impact?):

As a Solutions Architect at D2L, you play a key rolein:

  • SalesSupport :Partneringwith SolutionsEngineers(SEs)as a technical expertand escalation pointfor sales opportunities:scopingcomplextechnical requirements,writingresponses, and presenting technical solutionsasrequired.
  • Customer Engagement : In collaboration with SEs,engaging withprospective and current customers to deeply understand their technical challenges, business goals, and integration needs; and presenting a compelling case for how we will best support.
  • TechnicalSolution Design :Designing, documenting, and presentingsolutionsfor sales opportunitiesrelated to technicaland partnerintegrations, security, data exchange,implementation, and more.
  • Value Orientated Delivery :Building trust with both customers and internal stakeholdersbyusing strong value-orientation to understand the ultimate business goals and challenges to solvefor, anddesigning the most effective technological solution aligned to those goals. Usingstrong communicationskills to clearlyarticulatethe impact of your proposed solutiontodrivingsuccess to goals.
  • RiskMitigation :Assessingand mitigatingpotentialblockers tuttechnical wininsales opportunities; assessingand mitigatingrisks that might hinder the successful deliveryand implementation ofproposedtechnicalsolutions.
  • Implementation Success :Be a liaison betweenourimplementationteamsandsalesopportunity teamsto ensure technical knowledge is documented and transferred for a successfulimplementation.
  • Technical Enablement :As a Solutions Architectyou will alsohave the opportunity tocontribute materials and expertisefor enablementand work with internalSMEteams (Implementation, Sales, Product Management) to identify and fill information gapsthat help SolutionsEngineers communicate basic to intermediate level technical concepts.This may require creating re-usable assets, responding to one-off requests for information, orassistingother groups in creating andmaintainingassets.
Competencies (Whatyou’llbring to the role):
  • Experience in education technology, particularly withLearning Management System (LMS) administration / integration;deep knowledge andexperience with Brightspacea must
  • Experience in atechnicalsales, consulting, orsimilarclient-facing role
  • Familiarity with enterprise software sales process;previoussalessupport would be an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to understand complex business challenges and apply creativity and problem-solving to meet client needs
  • Understanding of the technology ecosystem that surrounds an LMS andtypicalintegrationneeds– including:
  • Systems of record(SIS/HRIS/AMS/CRM)
  • Authenticationconcepts (SAML/SSO, LDAP, JIT provisioning)
  • Third-partytool integration(LTI, API, IPaaS)
  • Dataintegrationconcepts(programmatic flat file transfer,API, relational databasemanagement,BI tools, EDW)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,effectively articulating technical conceptsto a varied audience
  • Strongpresentation skills, with the ability to convince and persuade
  • Experience interpreting and responding totechnical requirements(such aswithinRFPs), gathering client requirements,and/orwriting SOWswould be an asset
  • Team oriented,collaborative problem solver– Fosterscollaborative and positive relationships betweenteam members,sales, services, and other internal teams
  • Leadership,initiativeand execution – Identifiesorganizational and informational gaps;definesand executesplans to close gaps; takesleadership in problem solvingin collaborationwith others; drivessolutioningfromproblemdefinition to close
  • Organized and analytical–Sound time managementand self-organization skills,managingmultiple projectssimultaneouslywith varying complexities

The expected base salary range for a new hire in this role is listed below.The annualized base salary offered is determined by each candidate’s relevant knowledge, skills, education, training and experience. It is aligned to ensure both internal and external competitiveness using market data for the geographic location and industry. As part of the total compensation at D2L the role may be eligible for additional benefits including a Wellness Subsidy, Equity Grants, Variable Incentive, and more.

Base Salary Range

$85,000 — $105,000 CAD
