Job summary

Aerotek in Burnaby, BC is seeking a Solderer Assembler to join a clean, quiet production facility. You will hand-solder, rework, read assembly docs, and help prepare components for test and packing in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires 6 months to 1 year soldering experience, color vision, and teamwork. You will operate test equipment, participate in training, and may support quality initiatives.

Job description

As a Solderer Assembler, you will be responsible for assembling electronic components, including complex and high-density projects, following assembly books, custom specifications, and quality standards. You will perform hand soldering and rework on thru-hole, SMT, mixed, and mechanical assemblies per engineering specifications and IPC standards. Your role will include preparing, placing, and installing components accurately, operating and maintaining various assembly and testing equipment, and setting up, calibrating, and maintaining test stations. You will test product functionality using tools like multimeters and PC-based programming, finalize assembly, and prepare products for packing and shipping. Participation in training and certification programs to maintain up-to-date skills and support team-level quality initiatives, including root cause analysis, is expected.

Work in a large, organized, clean, and quiet facility with multiple departments within the production floor. Employees may occasionally be exposed to dust, solder, metals, high noise levels from operating machinery, or physical hazards. The culture promotes teamwork, positivity, and inclusivity with cross-training opportunities available. The environment can be louder during morning shifts and quieter in the afternoon. Dress code includes smocks, shoe covers, ear plugs, goggles, and closed-toe shoes. Shifts are available from 7:00-3:30 PM and 3:30 PM-12:00 AM, Monday through Friday, with overtime when busy.

Responsibilities

• Assemble electronic components following custom specifications and quality standards.
• Perform hand soldering and rework on various assemblies per engineering specs.
• Prepare, place, and install components accurately.
• Operate and maintain assembly and testing equipment.
• Set up, calibrate, and maintain test stations, complete test logs, and report yields.
• Test product functionality using multimeters and PC-based programming.
• Finalize assembly and prepare products for packing and shipping.
• Participate in training and certification programs.
• Support team-level quality initiatives, including root cause analysis.
• Communicate effectively with team members to resolve and prevent issues.
• 6 months - 1 year hand soldering experience.
• Proficient with hand tools like screwdrivers and torque wrenches.
• Experience in reworking mechanical/electrical assemblies.
• Ability to read and understand assembly documentation.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs on a non-repetitive basis.
• Ability to distinguish different colors accurately.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with Surface Mount Technology (SMT).

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
