Job summary

SkyFire Energy in West Kelowna, BC is seeking an entry-level Solar Installer or Electrical Apprentice to join our growing team. This full-time role offers on-site training, an indenture path, and opportunities to work on residential, commercial, and utility-scale projects.

You'll install solar systems on roofs and ground mounts, maintain safety, handle materials, and support customers while gaining hands-on experience in the solar industry.

Qualifications

• Ability to carry heavy solar panels and other items up to 60lbs throughout the day.
• Comfortable working on roofs (various slopes) or a love of heights.
• Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions year-round.
• Willing to work out of town occasionally.
• Reliable transportation to and from work.
• CLB 7/Intermediate English for safety protocols.

Responsibilities

• Installation of solar electric systems on roofs and ground mounts for residential and commercial sites.
• Ensure crew and job site safety, including PPE and fall protection.
• Distribute material and solar modules across the site.
• Use hand tools to install racking and modular components.
• Support site upkeep and provide friendly customer service.

What the role offers:

Overtime options

Permanent, full-time positions (work is available 12 months of the year)

Ongoing on and off-site training

Indentureship in the electrical trade and room to grow in the company

Primary duties of the job include:

Installation of solar electric systems on various slopes of roofs of residential and commercial buildings, as well as commercial ground mount projects

Ensure crew and job site safety, including proper use of PPE and Fall Protection

Distributing material and solar modules throughout the site, including up and down ladders

Using hand tools, both manual and powered, to install racking and modular components

Helping with site upkeep as required

Providing friendly service to all customers

Qualifications (must haves):

Ability to carry heavy solar panels and other items up to 60lbs throughout the day

Comfortable working on roofs (various slopes), or just a love of heights! - previous roofing experience is considered a strong asset

Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions, year-round

Willing to work out of town occasionally

Reliable transportation to and from work

CLB 7/Intermediate is the minimum English level required for safety protocol

Assets (preferred but not required):

A valid class 5 license

Prior construction/trades experience is preferred, on job training will be provided

Solar training and/or solar installation certification (SAIT, NAIT, NABCEP, SEI, etc)

Valid Fall Protection training/certification (otherwise provided by SkyFire)

Experience working on sloped roofs (commercial or residential)
