Job description

SmartCone Technologies Inc. is a tech start-up in Stittsville, Ottawa. Our mission is to be the market leader in rapid deployable IoT technologies & platforms that delivers site safety & operational efficiency for large private or public organizations. The SmartCone is a turnkey system that delivers an end-to-end solution for deploying sensor devices rapidly in a mobile environment. The system offers integrated subscription billing, on demand applications, API’s to support 3rd party devices and a responsive HTML5 interface.

You will be collaborating with engineers to develop a green cutting edge power module solution for the SmartCone. In addition to design and development, you will work with the team to provide technical review and power output expectations for a variety of module and inverter technologies. Part of the project will include research of best practices and existing projects to integrate. You will be challenged to think creatively, independently, and intellectually to design hardware, gaining invaluable hands-on technical experience.

We are looking for someone with skills and experience in electrical engineering, software engineering, green energy, or equivalent. Specific knowledge in solar energy will be an asset. We also expect you to be a detail-oriented and self-motivated high achiever who has the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Further, the candidate needs to fulfill the Green Youth Program criteria:
  • Between 15 – 30 years of age (inclusive).
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident of Canada, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada.
  • Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations.
  • A first-time participant in a Youth Employment Strategy work experience program targeted at youth.
Program limitations:
  • Program duration will be a minimum of 3 months and a maximum of 6 months.
  • Salary $30,000 per candidate per year.

Note that this is a temporary position assigned to a specific project with the opportunity of extension.
