The Software Test Specialist has industry experience in planning, documenting, executing, and automating tests, identifying defects, and proposing improvements to enhance product stability and user experience. They are capable of creating and maintaining automated test suites, as well as coaching other team members in those tasks.

The NAVBLUE Software Factory is an agile environment, and teams are expected to be cross-functional. The duties of the Software Test Specialist include not only executing test-based activities but also providing guidance to other team members as they execute test-based activities. They are the resource that other team members can rely on to validate testing strategies, plan appropriate test coverage, and review test implementation. They will also be involved in non-test activities as the team requires, including grooming and retrospective activities. Primary test activities will include NAVBLUE N-Ops Crew, with scope extending to additional products in line with business needs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with Software Developers, Product Owners, and other Software Test Specialists to understand product requirements and define test plans.
  • Design, document, and maintain test plans, test cases, and automated test scripts for new and existing features for NAVBLUE’s N-OC product.
  • Execute manual regression and automated test suites to validate functionality, performance, security, and usability.
  • Set up, manage, and maintain test environments using virtual machines.
  • Identify, log, and track software defects, inconsistencies, and risks to the product.
  • Provide test reports, documentation, and metrics to stakeholders to support software releases.
  • Analyze and monitor automation effectiveness trends and recommend improvements.
  • Ensure smooth integration of automated testing with CI/CD systems.
  • Ensure reliability and integrity of automated testing and performance testing tooling.

Qualified Experience/Skills/Training:

Education:

  • College Diploma or Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar discipline

Experience, Knowledge, and Competencies:

  • 3+ years of experience with software testing, automation and scripting, agile principles, and working with CI/CD pipelines with the following:
  • Hands-on experience in developing automated scripts for functional and non-functional (Performance, Stability etc.) testing.
  • Strong understanding of software development methodologies.
  • Experience in SAFe Agile Framework.
  • Experience in Amazon Web Services
  • Working knowledge of testing tools (Insomnia, JMeter, Blazemeter, etc.).
  • Familiarity with setting up and managing test environments using virtual machines (VMWare, AWS EC2, etc.).
  • Prior industry experience in the aviation domain is a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of Flight Ops Crew Scheduling systems.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with an ability to work both independently and drive change within a team
  • Strong analytical, an investigative attitude, and an open mind
  • Solid hands-on experience, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision on the following:
  • Python, Selenium
  • Jenkins, Gitlab

Licensure/Certifications:

  • AWS Certificate
