Job summary

Delta Intelligent Building Technologies (Canada) Inc. in Surrey is seeking a Software QA Specialist Co-op for an 8-month term. You will test software to ensure it meets end-user needs, create test documentation, and report bugs for resolution by Product Development.

The role includes building automation focus and collaboration with technical teams. Hybrid work arrangement with 3 days on-site is noted; wage range is CAD 22–25 per hour, reflecting base compensation for the co-op.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Testing software to identify critical bugs and verify end-user impact.
  • Create and maintain test documentation and bug reports.
  • Verify fixes on new builds and ensure quality before production.
  • Design, code, and maintain automation frameworks, tests and tools.
  • Troubleshoot complex software problems and assist product support.
  • Collaborate with other departments and contribute to documentation.

Job Summary

The Software QA Specialist Co-op is responsible for ensuring software meets end-user needs and requirements. To accomplish this task, the Software QA Specialist Co-op must be proficient in test methods and procedures and can extensively test and evaluate all products before releasing to production to ensure they meet design specifications and are suitable for their intended application(s).

This includescreating test procedures and documenting all test results, identifying bugs and operational anomalies, recording them electronically for resolution by Product Development, and verifying bug resolutions will satisfy the intended customers’ needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Testing software with the understanding of what bugs are critical to the end-user.
  • Creating and maintaining test documentation.
  • Creating new entries in our bug tracking software for any new bugs identified in the system.
  • Verifying bug fixes are satisfactory on newly transferred build.
  • Design, coding and maintenance of automation frameworks, tests and tools.
  • Troubleshooting complex problems in software.
  • Assisting Technical Services in providing product support.
  • Acting as a resource to other departments on products and applications.
  • Assisting with documentation for software manuals, and technical documents.
  • Regularly identifying deficiencies in the test suite and ensures they are resolved.
  • Identifying usability problems and making suggestions for improvement.
  • Reviewing and evaluating all Product Development and user documentation and generating additional notes to summarize undocumented features and differences from previous versions. Providing important input on an ongoing basis.
  • Issue management. Monitors issues for workflow, priority and completeness

Required or Strongly Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Requires very good time management and organizational skills.
  • A strong desire to continuously improve professionally.
  • The ability to work well in pressure situations and meet established deadlines.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Requires a good understanding of the fact Delta Controls is a customer service driven organization.
  • Proficient in the current technologies in place at Delta Controls.
  • Self-starter, self-driven to produce results and continually improve.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience is preferred, however undergraduates with at least two years in Engineering and Computer Science are encouraged to apply.
  • Applicants must be registered in an accredited, post-secondary institute.
  • Knowledge of networked applications and systems, knowing where they can break and knowing how to test quality, performance and resilience.
  • Working knowledge of building controls, control theory, and electronics is an asset.
  • Well-developed troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Work Location: Hybrid (Currently 3 days a week, subject to change)

City: Surrey

Type: Co-op (8 months)

Wage: $22 - $25 CAD /hour

This range reflects the minimum and maximum target payable for the base salary of new hires across all Canadian locations. Actual compensation may vary outside this range and is dependent on various factors.
