Base pay range
$150,000.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

The Role
The Software Program Director is a single point accountable to the VP, PD and responsible for meeting customer and business objectives of all software projects. The Software Program Director will have hands-on delivery responsibility for all software projects and will provide leadership and direction to the team of Software Project Managers, , assigned project teams and other supporting staff working on all software projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver to cost and schedule limits the portfolio of software projects
- Lead, manage and mentor project managers, engineers and supporting staff assigned to the software projects. Act as Line Manager to Software Project Managers
- Support the Program Controls Manager in ensuring that projects follow agreed controls, checks and balances. Acting to develop RTG plans when indications suggest a deviation from agreed limits
- Manage, champion and act on KPIs for software projects, supporting the Program Controls Manager in their generation and acting as necessary to correct deficiencies either in the data or the portfolio shortcomings
- Work with resource managers to assign resources to ensure software projects are adequately resourced to meet budget and schedule expectations
- Work very closely with the Manager, Software Engineering, to ensure that people and processes championed by the department are meeting the needs and expectations of the projects
- Work very closely with the Technical Manager and Software Design Authority to ensure technical solutions within the portfolio are being developed consistently across the business making best use of OSI Intellectual Property
- Provide a consolidated resource forecast that extends out to the planning horizon. The forecast will be used by the divisional VP for workforce planning purposes.
- Provide estimates, compliance matrices and risk assessments to the Proposals team in support of BD efforts. Maintain a close working relationship with the Director, Proposals on software-related BD pipeline activities.
- Foster and build on the strengths of a diverse workforce.
- Full authority over all project teams within the region
You Bring
- Education: University education in a related area and/or relevant working experience; PMI/PMP/PgMP/APM/PRINCE2 qualified from accredited project management institute would be an asset
- Experience: A minimum of 10 years of direct experience in the delivery of complex system-based solutions
- Skills: Experience and knowledge of complex project delivery, experience and knowledge of software engineering, within naval or defense domains; experienced in risk assessment, development of advanced level analysis and understanding of earned value management; highly proficient with P6 Primavera and Microsoft Office software suite; practical problem solving ability; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing; ability to use sound judgment; ability to manage time and workload effectively including planning, organizing, and prioritizing with attention to detail
- Other: Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance
