Job summary

Future Electronics in Montreal, QC is seeking a System Design Specialist (SDS) – Software/Firmware to join a cross-functional engineering team. You will be mentored by the SDC Manager and senior engineers to prioritize and manage multiple projects with a strong emphasis on embedded systems.

You will design system/subsystems for key customers, provide in-depth support, assist with NPI, and create technical sales materials while coordinating with global teams.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years developing Linux Board Support Packages and device drivers
• 2-5 years of experience with C/C++
• Board bring-up and BSP development for NXP i.MX
• Experience with microcontrollers STM32, Renesas, NXP or others
• 3-8 years of progressive embedded system design in at least two fields

Responsibilities

• Detailed system/subsystem design and analysis for key customers
• Provide deep-dive hardware/software/firmware/dev tool support to field engineers and customers
• Support suppliers with New Product Introductions (NPI)
• Develop application notes and technical sales aids for field teams
• Provide project management for tasks outsourced to 3rd parties or global teams

Job description

The System Design Specialist (SDS) – Software/Firmware will be a member of a multi-disciplined, cross-functional design team. The SDS – Software/Firmware will receive coaching and guidance from the SDC Manager and experienced members of the Advanced Engineering Group’s management team to help acclimate him to the nature of our business, but he will be expected to use his engineering design and management experience to effectively prioritize and manage a set of responsibilities and projects.

How you will make an impact

• Performing detailed system/subsystem design/design analysis for key customers
• Providing deep-dive hardware/software/firmware/dev tool support to field based Advanced Engineers and key customers
• Providing technical support for our suppliers New Product Introductions (NPI)
• Developing application notes/technical sales aids for our field teams
• Providing project management expertise for tasks that may be outsourced to 3rd parties or SDC counterparts around the globe

We’re looking for someone with

• BSEE or BS Computer Engineering required, MSEE preferred
• Two to Five years of experience developing Linux Board Support Packages and device drivers
• Two to Five years of experience with C/C++
• Board bring-up, using and developing Board Support Packages (for NXP’s i.MX series)
• Experience with microcontrollers STM32, Renesas, NXP or others
• 3-8 years of progressive embedded system design experience in at least two of the following fields (in relation with job specialization):
