Job summary

Emburse in Toronto, Canada, is seeking an experienced software engineer with leadership capabilities to guide distributed teams and drive AI adoption across the software development lifecycle. You will prepare technical requirements, design specifications, and mentor engineers while collaborating with cross-functional peers to deliver scalable solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent years' experience.
  • Minimum 4 years' professional Java development experience.
  • Experience in OS X and Linux environments, Spring, AWS, microservices, SQL and NoSQL.
  • Knowledge of RESTful API design and API security best practices.
  • Experience with design patterns and OOP; ability to review complex software designs.
  • Ability to work in a Scrum/DevOps environment and drive delivery.
  • Strong problem solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a distributed software engineering team.
  • Define technical requirements and software design specifications.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers.
  • Drive AI adoption throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional peers and leaders to deliver projects.
  • Review and influence design plans; remove blockers and ensure delivery.
  • Align engineering work with company strategy and product goals.
  • Participate in architecture and design activities; ensure security and SDLC compliance.

Good understanding of agile application development lifecyclePreferred: Experience Designing and building JSON or REST services, experience working with 3rd party APIs, AWS APIs, Docker or other containers, large-scale or distributed web applications, Test Driven Development and functional testingRequired: Minimum of 4 years' professional experience in Java development.
