Job summary

Lyft is seeking a software engineering intern in Toronto for Summer 2027. You will work with top engineers, own your project, and see live deployments quickly.

This hybrid role requires in-office presence at least 3 days a week, with emphasis on reliability through testing and code quality. You should be pursuing a CS degree in Canada (Bachelor's or Master's), with graduation between Dec 2027 and Summer 2028, and you should have strong CS fundamentals, good communication, and a passion for

Responsibilities

• Own your project and coordinate with teammates throughout the day.
• Progressively refactor to improve code quality.
• Ensure reliability with unit, integration, and load tests.
• Participate in code reviews to share knowledge.
• Support continuous integration and deployment.
• Contribute to meaningful improvements for Lyft drivers and riders.

Responsibilities

• Own your project, while checking in with other team members throughout the day with questions and updates
• You leave the code in a better state than when you found it (progressive refactor)
• You value reliability, ensured by testing (unit, integration and load tests)
• Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and distribute knowledge
• Continuous integration and deployment

Experience

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science from a university in Canada (required), with a graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028 (required). For any candidates who are master's students who worked between their bachelor's and master's programs: candidates should also have less than 2 years of relevant full-time work experience
• Available during Summer 2027 for the internship in Toronto

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $40 - CAD $45 per hour. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
