Job summary

Lyft is seeking a student intern in Toronto to work with senior engineers on real-world data problems. You will own projects, refactor code, and contribute to deployments while learning from top engineers.

You will apply CS fundamentals, SQL, and data modeling skills to build scalable solutions that improve rider and driver experiences. Hybrid in-office role with strong collaboration and learning opportunities.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related major from a Canadian university (required).
• Graduation date between Dec 2027 and Summer 2028 (required).
• For master’s candidates with gap between degrees: <2 years of relevant full-time work experience (if applicable).
• Available during Summer 2027 for an internship in Toronto.
• Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Own your project and coordinate with teammates through the day.
• Refactor code to improve state and quality.
• Prioritize reliability with testing.
• Participate in code reviews to ensure quality and share knowledge.
• Engage in CI/CD processes and deployments.

Experience:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science or related majorfrom a university in Canada (required), with a graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028 (required). For any candidates who are master's students who worked between their bachelor's and master's programs: candidates should also have less than 2 years of relevant full-time work experience
• Available during Summer 2027 for an internship in Toronto
• Strong knowledge of CS fundamentals
• Knowledge of SQL and data modeling fundamentals
• Experience working with databases

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $40 - CAD $45 per hour. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
