About Us

Wayfair operates the largest custom e-commerce parcel network in the US, with 1.6 million square meters of logistics space. We seek a passionate Platform Engineer for our Service Lifecycle team, responsible for running services and applications in production, including compute infrastructure, service mesh, and network edge solutions.

Responsibilities

1. Maintain and scale the services platform with a talented team.
2. Architect and develop the future compute platform using industry best practices and new technologies.
3. Influence product roadmaps for GCP to align with architecture goals.
4. Design and operate Google Cloud networking solutions, including Interconnects, Cloud Router, Firewalls, and VPCs.
5. Support hybrid environments via Equinix Fabric and Azure, utilizing NAT, IPSEC VPNs, and network troubleshooting.
6. Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance compute platform capabilities.
7. Identify automation opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
8. Participate in on-call rotations to ensure platform health.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in platform engineering/SRE roles with an object-oriented language (Python, Golang, etc.).
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Expertise in Public Cloud environments (GCP, AWS, Azure) and networking.
• Extensive Kubernetes experience (GKE, EKS, AKS).
• Proficiency with CI/CD tools (Argo, Jenkins, etc.).
• Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, etc.).
• Strong networking background.
• Agile environment experience and analytical mindset.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Istio/Service Mesh.
• Knowledge of deployment strategies (Canary, Blue/Green, A/B testing).
• Experience with Kubernetes Admission Control and workload scaling.
