Job summary

Rakuten Kobo Toronto is seeking a Software Engineer II for the Web team to develop and maintain Kobo’s e-commerce experience. You’ll work across front-end, back-end, CI/CD and infra, from requirements gathering to monitoring real customer behavior.

The role requires strong C#, ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, RESTful services, and database experience with MSSQL and RavenDB. A hybrid Toronto-based role offers growth in a friendly, fast-paced startup-like setting.

Qualifications

• Strong technical knowledge with good communication skills.
• Experience with C#, ASP.NET MVC, WebAPI, RESTful Services.
• Proficiency in MSSQL and NoSQL databases like RavenDB.
• Experience with service bus technology (NServiceBus, RabbitMQ).
• Frontend skills with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML and CSS.
• Git-based workflows (GitHub/Azure DevOps) and CI/CD.
• Knowledge of testing strategies (Unit/Integration/UI).
• Bachelor's degree in CS/Engineering or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Kobo’s e-commerce experience across the Web team.
• Participate from requirements to implementation, testing, deployment and monitoring.
• Collaborate in an agile environment to deliver high-quality deliverables.
