Job summary

Instacart is hiring a Software Engineer II to join our Toronto-based Advertiser Optimization team. You will develop models for bidding, pacing, and budgeting, working with scientists, engineers, and product managers to translate questions into mathematical solutions and implement production-ready algorithms.

You will operate in a fast-paced environment where the ads marketplace evolves quickly, balancing rigor with speed and communicating findings clearly to stakeholders.

Qualifications

• PhD in mathematics, statistics, economics, operations research, or related quantitative discipline.
• Proficiency in Python and SQL with ability to translate quantitative concepts into analyses and experiments.
• Strong analytical and communication skills for technical and cross-functional audiences.

Responsibilities

• Develop and evaluate models and algorithms for ads bidding, pacing, and budgeting.
• Collaborate with senior scientists, engineers and product managers to translate marketplace questions into mathematical formulations.
• Contribute to production systems through algorithm implementation, validation, and monitoring, taking ownership of projects.
