Job summary

Mastercard in Vancouver, Canada is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Operations & Technology Fraud Products team, building high-performance Java-based capabilities for the Fraud Management Platform.

You will collaborate in an Agile Scrum team to design, implement, and test low-latency services, REST and gRPC endpoints, and integrate with Oracle/SQL-backed data stores.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Java JDK 8 or greater.
  • Creating and debugging J2EE REST Web Services, gRPC-based service development and Web Applications
  • Database experience including Oracle and SQL scripting
  • Experience with Spring Framework (including Spring Boot) and Maven
  • Experience writing unit tests with Junit and Mockito
  • Experience working with JBoss and/or Apache Tomcat
  • Experience with Git
  • Fluency in English.

  • Produce design documentation in accordance with Mastercard documentation standards.

Software Engineer II

Overview

Be part of the Operations & Technology Fraud Products team developing new capabilities for Mastercard's Decision Management Platform, which serves as the core for multiple business solutions to combat fraud and validate cardholder identity. Our patented Java-based platform processes billions of transactions per month in tens of milliseconds using a multi-tiered, message-oriented approach for high performance and availability.

About The Role

This role involves working with a team of talented engineers to develop high performance, low latency Java based solutions on the Fraud Management Platform.

In This Role, You Will Be Responsible For
  • Work closely with technical leads for assigned projects to assist in design and implementation tasks

  • Comfortable working in a Linux environment, using VI editor and general command line proficiency
Essential Skills

  • Business rules execution systems (e.g. IBM Operational Decision Manager (ODM - formerly ILOG) or JBoss Drools)
  • Experience working with containerized environments, such as Kubernetes/OpenShift/CloudFoundry
  • Experience with integration frameworks such as Apache Camel/Spring Integration
  • Knowledge of distributed systems and messaging queuing systems.
  • Knowledge of Splunk or other alerting and monitoring solutions.
  • Knowledge of Tomcat, Spring, Spring Boot, Shell Scripting, JSON.
