Job summary

Bank is seeking an experienced Intermediate Java Developer to join our agile team in Toronto. You will design and maintain backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and Kafka, with a focus on relational databases and RESTful APIs.

Expect collaboration with QA and product teams, participation in code reviews, and contribution to documentation. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in Java, strong SQL skills, and familiarity with Git and Maven/Gradle.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional Java development experience.
  • Strong Java (8+) and Spring Boot knowledge.
  • Experience with Apache Kafka (producing/consuming).
  • Solid understanding of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server).
  • Proficiency in SQL and database querying.
  • Experience with REST APIs and backend services.
  • Familiarity with Git and build tools such as Maven or Gradle.
  • Experience in collaborative Agile teams.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

Job description

Purpose

We are seeking an Intermediate Java Developer to join our agile development team and contribute to the design, development, and maintenance of backend services. The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience with Java and Spring Boot, a working knowledge of Kafka, and solid skills with relational databases. You will work closely with senior developers, QA, and product teams to deliver reliable, scalable solutions.

What You’ll Do

  • Experience with Docker or containerised applications
Working Conditions

Work in standard office‑based environments located in Scarborough and Downtown Toronto; non‑standard hours are a common occurrence. No external travel required.
