Job summary

Infoya is hiring a Backend Developer to design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable backend applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot. The role involves building secure REST APIs, working with SQL and NoSQL databases, and deploying on Google Cloud Platform in a hybrid environment (2 days in office) in Toronto.

About the Job

The Backend Developer will design, develop, test, deploy, and support scalable backend applications and microservices. This role requires hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, relational databases, and cloud technologies.

The developer will work across the software development lifecycle, from requirement analysis and technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support. The position also involves collaborating with product, QA, DevOps, and other engineering teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high-performing backend solutions.

Position Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and maintain microservices-based applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Design and implement scalable, secure RESTful APIs.
• Work extensively with SQL databases and NoSQL databases such as CouchDB, MongoDB, Firestore, and Bigtable.
• Deploy, manage, and monitor applications in Google Cloud Platform (GCP).

• Contribute to event-driven architectures using messaging systems such as Pub/Sub.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• 4-5 years of experience in Java development.
• Strong expertise in Spring Boot and microservices architecture.
• In-depth knowledge of SQL databases and query optimization.
• Experience working with NoSQL databases (CouchDB, MongoDB, Firestore, Bigtable).
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (preferably Jenkins).
• Experience with event-driven architectures (Pub/Sub).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
• Experience with GraphQL and reactive programming (Spring WebFlux).
• Familiarity with observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry).
• Exposure to financial services, e-commerce, or large-scale data-driven systems.
• Understanding of multi-tenant architectures and high-availability system design.

Benefits

• $60,000 to $65,000 CAD/ year

The final compensation offered will depend on local market conditions and geographic location, as well as job-related factors such as the candidate’s knowledge, skills, qualifications, relevant experience, and education/training.
