Job summary

Workstream is a mission-driven company building an all-in-one HR, payroll, and hiring platform for hourly workforces. We seek a talented Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join our growing engineering team in a hybrid role with in-office Tuesdays and Thursdays.

You will develop full-stack features, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and advocate for TDD to deliver high-quality software that scales with our customers.

Qualifications

• 3 to 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, PHP, or JavaScript, with experience developing full-stack, high-performance applications.
• Strong foundation in programming principles and design patterns.
• Experience with building scalable systems and test-driven CI/CD commitment to quality software development.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL or MongoDB).
• Knowledge of caching mechanisms such as Redis or Memcached.
• Familiarity with AWS.
• Distributed systems design experience.
• Bilingual in English and Chinese preferred.

We are seeking a talented Software Engineer (Full Stack) to join our growing engineering team.

This is a full-time, hybrid position with 2 days a week, every Tuesday and Thursday in-office to support close cross-functional collaboration.

Day In The Life

• You are a seasoned Software Engineer with a strong background in full-stack application development.

Who You Are

• 3 to 7+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one or more of the following languages:Python, Java, PHP, or JavaScript, with experience developing full-stack, high-performance, and high-availability applications.
• Strong foundation in programming principles and design patterns.
• Experience with building scalable systems and test driven CI/CD commitment to quality software development.
• Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, such as PostgreSQL or MongoDB, have comprehensive understanding of the decision-making process between SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of caching mechanisms such as Redis or Memcached.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS
• Demonstrated experience in designing distributed systems with a holistic perspective.
• Keep up with the latest technological trends and continuously improve productivity.
• Bilingual in English and Chinese preferred

Salary Range

In compliance with the California Pay Transparency Law, the base salary range for this role is between C$125,000 to C$165,000 ( $90,000 to $120,000 USD). This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
