Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an engineer to modernize a Django and React web application, reducing technical debt while delivering customer-focused solutions. You will write design docs, demo proposals, and align stakeholders through technical demonstrations.

The role emphasizes cloud deployment, CI/CD, and data-driven design decisions with a focus on scalable, maintainable software patterns.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years building and maintaining production web applications.
• Deep backend (Django/Django REST Framework, Python) or frontend (React, TypeScript), with working competence in the other.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development workflows and AI coding agents.
• Ability to use SQL, queries, metrics, and models to investigate datasets and validate results.
• Technical writing and design skills, including design documents, diagrams, and clear reasoning.
• Experience building and deploying on a cloud stack; GCP preferred.
• Experience with serverless services such as Cloud Run or Cloud Functions, service-to-service authentication, and cloud deployment pipelines.
• Working understanding of RBAC, SSO, MFA/2FA, IAM, and tier-based gating.
• Comfortable modernizing a live codebase within an existing code-review and agile process.
• Organized and process-oriented, with a strong grasp of the SDLC.
• Experience with CI/CD, API telemetry/monitoring, and database design/denormalization.
• Advantageous: AI/LLM product feature development.
• Advantageous: major framework version upgrades or large-module decomposition on a live production codebase.
