Job summary

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a dynamic Software Engineer, Full Stack to design and deliver scalable software that powers critical business capabilities. Qualifications

  • Four-year university degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 4+ years of professional software development experience, excluding co-op or internship.
  • Strong hands-on experience building modern web applications with React and TypeScript.
  • Strong backend development experience with C# and .NET, including modern .NET platforms such as .NET 10.
  • Fundamentals: domain-driven design, OO design, patterns, clean code, secure coding.
  • Experience designing RESTful APIs, databases, and integrating distributed systems.
  • Experience in Agile delivery and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Experience with Azure, cloud-native development, CI/CD, containers, or DevOps is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain full-stack solutions with React, TS, .NET 10, C#.
  • Own delivery of features end-to-end from design to post-production support.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions focused on scalability, security, and performance.
  • Build intuitive user interfaces with clean backend integrations.
  • Develop backend services and workflows for reliable application operations.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement durable fixes.
  • Elevate engineering standards through code reviews and mentoring.
  • Collaborate with product, design, QA, and stakeholders to deliver value.

Job Overview

Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is seeking a high-performing, product-minded Software Engineer, Full Stack to help design and deliver modern, scalable software solutions that power critical business capabilities. This role is ideal for an engineer who combines strong hands-on technical depth with sound judgment, a bias for action, and a commitment to engineering excellence.

Reporting to the Manager, IT Product Delivery, you will play a key role in building and evolving enterprise applications across the full stack, with a primary focus on frontend development using React and TypeScript and backend services built with .NET 10 and C#. You will partner closely with product, design, architecture, QA, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into reliable, secure, and maintainable solutions.

The successful candidate is a strong collaborator who can independently drive delivery, contribute to architecture and design decisions, raise the quality bar through code reviews and best practices, and continuously improve team velocity, system performance, and developer experience. Experience with Azureand cloud-native patterns is considered a strong asset.

Key Accountabilities
  • Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain high-quality full-stack software solutions using React, TypeScript, .NET 10, and C#.
  • Own delivery of features end-to-end, from technical design and implementation through testing, release, and post-production support.
  • Contribute to architecture and system design decisions with a focus on scalability, resiliency, security, performance, and long-term maintainability.
  • Build intuitive, responsive, and accessible user interfaces while ensuring clean integration with backend APIs and services.
  • Develop and enhance backend services, business logic, and integrations to support reliable, secure, and efficient application workflows.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement durable fixes that improve system stability and operational excellence.
  • Elevate engineering standards through thoughtful code reviews, technical documentation, mentoring, and active knowledge sharing across the team.
  • Partner effectively with cross-functional stakeholders to clarify requirements, manage technical trade-offs, identify opportunities for improvement, and deliver measurable business value.
Qualifications

  • Minimum 4+ years of professional software development experience, excluding co-op or internship experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience building modern web applications with React and TypeScript.
  • Strong backend development experience with C# and .NET, ideally including experience with modern .NET platforms such as .NET 10.
  • Demonstrated understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including domain-driven design, object-oriented design, design patterns, clean code principles, and secure coding practices.
  • Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs, working with databases, and integrating distributed systems or third-party services.
  • Experience working in Agile delivery environments and collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced setting.
  • Experience with Azure services, cloud-native development, CI/CD pipelines, containerization, or DevOps practices is an asset.
