Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in Toronto is seeking an experienced software infrastructure engineer to maintain and scale our asynchronous platform. You will design, deploy and operate tooling and systems to improve reliability, performance, and capacity planning in a hybrid work environment.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years building large-scale infrastructure and distributed systems, expertise with Go or Python, and experience on AWS/GCP/Azure with knowledge of SQS, Kafka or Kinesis.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience building software development, automation and systems engineering teams.
  • Experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks; knowledge of SQS, Kafka and Kinesis is a bonus.
  • Experience developing in Go, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages.
  • Experience working with cloud-based environments such as AWS/GCP/Azure.
  • Committed to reducing technical debt and maintaining clean code and configurations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and analyze metrics from operating systems, control planes, and applications to assist in fault detection and performance improvement.
  • Design, develop and deploy tooling and systems that continually improve reliability, scalability and efficiency of our platform.
  • Balance feature development speed and reliability with service-level objectives.
  • Operate and improve our Infrastructure using industry best practices and tools.
  • Participate in design and production readiness reviews, platform management and capacity planning ceremonies with cross-functional teams.
  • Document Infrastructure operations processes and insights, identify repeatable actions and automate repetitive tasks.
  • Participate in on-call rotations, respond to incidents and support other teams to mitigate customer-impacting events.

Responsibilities:

Experience:
  • 5+ years experience working on teams responsible for software development, automation and systems engineering
  • Experience building large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks. Knowledge with SQS, Kafka and Kinesis is a bonus.
  • Experience developing in Go, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Experience working with a cloud-based environments such as AWS/GCP/Azure

The expected base pay range for this position in the Toronto area is CAD $108,000 - CAD $135,000, not inclusive of potential equity offering, bonus or benefits. Salary ranges are dependent on a variety of factors, including qualifications, experience and geographic location.
