Job Description

Have you ever been frustrated by the lack of usability of developer tools? If so, ASBX - Operator Tools is the place for you. Our charter is to improve the builder experience with operator tools—workflows post-code deployment that often require manual intervention. Our goal is to build tools used across Amazon to make the operator experience easier, faster, and safer. As a leader, your focus will be on providing operators with timely insights to identify gaps and accelerate incident diagnosis and remediation.

You will lead engineers driving large-scale initiatives that enhance the builder experience, owning goals and roadmaps for multiple services. Demonstrating strong leadership, you will manage your own projects and contribute technically, hiring and mentoring engineers, and influencing how Amazon operates.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead an engineering team to build, operate, and maintain software meeting business needs
2. Hire, coach, and mentor team members
3. Engage with diverse customers to understand requirements and priorities
4. Propose and implement new projects or system improvements
5. Own operational metrics and support
6. Develop long-term strategies including success metrics

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience
• 7+ years of direct engineering team experience
• 3+ years designing or architecting systems (reliability, scaling)
• 8+ years leading development of multi-tier web services
• Knowledge of full software/hardware lifecycle practices
• Experience collaborating with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience communicating with users, technical teams, and leadership
• Experience recruiting, mentoring, and managing software engineers

Salary ranges from $171,400 to $286,200 per year, based on experience and skills. Additional compensation and benefits may apply.
