Job description

Petal is a leading Canadian healthcare orchestration and billing company that revolutionizes healthcare systems to make them agile, efficient, and resilient by enabling the forecasting and shaping of world‑class healthcare through Healthcare BI, advanced analytics, and informed insights.

Our commitment to fostering an exceptional workplace culture has earned us notable recognitions, including being listed as a Great Place to Work in both the technology and healthcare sectors. Join us in our mission to empower healthcare innovators and improve healthcare differently.

What you can expect when joining the team

As a Software Development Manager, you will lead one of Petal’s empowered, multidisciplinary delivery teams, bringing together developers and technical leads to deliver high-quality software efficiently, sustainably, and in alignment with product strategy.

Sitting at the intersection of people leadership, delivery execution, and cross-functional collaboration, you will create clarity, drive accountability, and translate strategy into actionable delivery plans. In close partnership with Product Management, Architecture, and your team, you will foster an execution culture grounded in Agile and Kanban principles, continuous improvement, and measurable outcomes.

Your strong judgment and technical literacy will enable you to engage meaningfully with engineers and architects, challenge assumptions constructively, and make sound delivery decisions. You will coach and support your team, helping individuals grow while building a high-contributing culture based on ownership, collaboration, trust, and impact.

You will also play a key role in Petal’s AI transformation, helping teams adopt new ways of working, improve productivity, and innovate responsibly. As part of one of Canada’s fastest-growing SaaS companies, you will help evolve our delivery model and lead a talented, customer‑centric team whose work makes a real impact on the healthcare system.

A day in the life

In your day to day, you will:

  • Lead and support a multidisciplinary delivery team (typically 8-12 people) by setting direction, providing feedback, and fostering accountability.
  • Plan and oversee delivery execution, ensuring that the team has clear objectives, realistic timelines, and effective prioritization of work.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management and Architecture to align on vision, define scope, and ensure solutions meet both functional and technical expectations.
  • Identify and remove delivery blockers, optimizing the team’s workflow, tools, and processes to enable consistent execution.
  • Coach team members on problem-solving, communication, and professional growth, while cultivating a healthy, high‑performing team culture.
  • Maintain visibility on quality and performance metrics, ensuring continuous improvement in delivery velocity, product quality, and predictability.
  • Bring a point of view: act as a thought partner to Product and Architecture, balancing technical feasibility, customer value and business impact.

Your profile

Are you looking to join a mission‑driven company that’s redefining healthcare access through technology and collaboration? At Petal, you’ll help build the tools that power a more connected, efficient and compassionate healthcare ecosystem across Canada.

The sky’s the limit if you have:

  • 6+ years of experience in software development or engineering‑related roles, including at least 4 years in team leadership or management.
  • Proven track record managing end‑to‑end software delivery in a fast‑paced SaaS or product organization.
  • Strong understanding of delivery and quality management principles, from planning and estimation to testing and deployment.
  • A balanced skillset combining people management, project execution and technical literacy: you can engage confidently with developers, QA and cross‑functional partners.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between technical and business perspectives.
  • A mindset rooted in continuous improvement, transparency and empowerment.
Petal’s position on remote working

In our opinion, a company cannot claim to be modern, innovative and have the well‑being of their team at heart, without attempting to integrate remote working to the level that their business model allows them to. Petal employees continue to benefit from the option of teleworking up to the maximum flexibility permitted by the nature of the position and the smooth running of operations.

Our benefits
  • Recurring hybrid work allowance.
  • Compensation that recognizes your contribution.
  • 4 to 6 weeks of paid vacation per year.
  • 5 paid personal days per year.
  • A group RRSP / DPSP plan with employer contribution.
  • A complete group insurance plan, from day 1.
  • An annual wellness allowance.
  • Access to the Lumino Health™ telehealth application.
  • Flexible work hours and more.

Petal is an active participant in the equal opportunity employment program, and members of the following target groups are encouraged to apply: women, people with disabilities, aboriginal peoples and visible minorities. If you are a person with a disability, assistance with the screening and selection process is available on request.
