Job description

We are looking for a Software Development Manager to join our team developing an upcoming and exciting mobile game. Reporting to the Director of Technology, you will be managing a group of friendly and motivated engineers (2-3 direct reports) based in Montreal.

The goal for your team is to create and maintain core systems & innovative features, optimize code for high-performance targets, and build amazing tools to enable game developers to bring their content to life to be enjoyed by millions of players.

This position offers a high level of ownership and influence, working with a small team of highly effective and enthusiastic developers. The role involves a mix of hands-on development and management responsibilities.

What You’ll Do

1. Provide technical analysis and documentation for new systems
2. Mentor and guide game developers, providing technical direction, career development support, and opportunities for skill growth.
3. Coordinate & negotiate with external stakeholders (engineering, production, design, art, QA)
4. Support sprint planning, technical scoping, and roadmap execution
5. Conduct code reviews and ensure best practices are followed across the engineering team
6. Identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the development cycle
7. Champion quality, scalability, and performance across systems
8. Partner with production to track and deliver engineering deliverables on schedule

Technical skills include: Unity, C#, URP, Addressable, Google Cloud, Firebase, New Relic.

What We're Looking For

• 7+ years of experience in software development
• 2+ years in a leadership or management role
• B.S. in Computer Science
• Experience with microservice architecture
• Experience building CI / CD tools
• Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Active efforts to streamline development efforts, reducing Time to Market
• Ability to foster a positive and collaborative team culture
• Promote open communication, knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement
• Maintain an adaptive mindset, responding quickly to changes in project scope, requirements, or market conditions
