Job Description

The AWS Networking Telemetry and Engineering (NTE) team owns a data stream responsible for ingestion, enrichment, and transformation of AWS traffic monitoring data. This data is crucial for current and future AWS customer needs, including traffic engineering, real-time analysis, congestion resolution, cost optimization, and capacity forecasting. NTE's mission is to distribute high-quality traffic data to our customers, providing visibility into Amazon network traffic utilization.

We seek an exceptional Software Development Engineer (SDE) to develop and automate our software systems that utilize data streaming solutions for next-generation network monitoring systems. The ideal candidate will be passionate about cloud computing, delivering high-quality services across the full SDLC, and possess strong knowledge of distributed systems, design, and implementation. Leadership and coaching skills are a plus. You should be customer-centric and thrive in a fast-paced environment requiring excellent technical, business, and communication skills.

The NTE team is part of AWS Infrastructure Services, responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating AWS global infrastructure, including data centers, servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling systems. We support AWS's most challenging problems, impacting the supply chain and requiring innovative solutions. You will collaborate with a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers, working to ensure safety, security, capacity, and cost-efficiency while fostering an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to design and launch innovative products and services.
  • Develop technologies in a large distributed environment, leading industry changes.
  • Create solutions for predictions on distributed systems at scale.
  • Build scalable, fault-tolerant storage, index, and query systems.
  • Design and implement solutions for broadly defined problems.
  • Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
A Day in the Life

As an SDE, you'll problem-solve and innovate in an agile, sometimes ambiguous environment. You'll develop creative solutions, use data-driven decision-making, learn from others, and help grow your team to achieve excellence.

Basic Qualifications
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in system design or architecture, including reliability and scaling.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience covering the full software development lifecycle.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion. If you do not meet all preferred qualifications, we encourage you to apply. We value work-life balance and support flexible working arrangements. Our culture fosters curiosity, connection, and continuous learning.
