Akamai Technologies, Inc. in Ottawa is seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test to design test strategies, automate SDLC pipelines, and ensure deployment quality across environments. You will work on scalable, reliable, and correct cloud platforms in a collaborative team.

The role emphasizes building automated test frameworks, validating microservices, and driving stress- and end-to-end tests with modern tooling. A Bachelor’s degree and strong scripting skills are essential.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.
• Python and Pytest knowledge along with good understanding of modern testing methodologies.
• Knowledge of Perl and golang along with experience in debugging
• Know the difference between x86 and ARM architecture.
• Possess knowledge of Debian packaging, apt, and dependency management.
• Have good Linux fundamentals, especially around performance tuning along with experience in Bash and scripting fundamentals.
• Have understanding of virtualization and containerization.
• Possess experience with automation tools and frameworks such as Jenkins, Github Actions, SaltStack.

• Developing and maintaining automated test frameworks for code changes, including unit tests, integration tests, and end-to-end tests.
• Creating and maintaining test plans and test cases for microservices, ensuring they cover relevant scenarios and edge cases.
• Collaborating in integration testing with other engineering groups and suggesting improvements to various testing environments.
• Investigating requirements for safe deployment and rollback strategies, and verifying all requirements during the deployment process.
• Writing and maintaining scripts to automate platform service deployments.

As Software Development Engineer in Test, you will define the test strategy, performance quality gates, and automate the SDLC pipeline from testing through deployment and validation

As a Software Development Engineer in Test, you will be responsible for:

• Investigating and troubleshooting any deployment-related issues, identifying root causes and providing recommendations for solutions in various environments.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary for this position ranges from 62,500 - 112,500 CAD/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
