Job summary

Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) is seeking a Consultant, Automation in Testing (SDET) to join the Capital Markets AML/TM Technology team in Toronto. You will design, maintain and execute automation tests for API and UI using Selenium within an Agile scrum.

You will translate requirements into test cases, lead end-to-end testing, and collaborate with developers and stakeholders. Hybrid work: 1–2 days on-site; remaining days remote.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of hands-on UI automation testing with Selenium.
  • Experience translating requirements into test cases and end-to-end testing.
  • Familiarity with API testing and CI/CD tools.
  • SQL knowledge required; banking domain experience desirable.

What you’ll be doing

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Capital Markets AML/TM Technology team. You’ll be hands on with all aspects of the systems testing process and provide suggestions that will ensure client needs are met with the highest quality. As a Consultant, Automation in Testing (SDET) role, you’ll be working within the scrum Agile team for one of the program following the Agile sprint delivery in CIBC’s Technology team, creating, maintaining and executing Automation testing scripts for the API testing along with UI Selenium based testing. You will also help in identifying the gaps in Unit test cases reviews and ensure that the Automation scripts are demoed within the scrum team to ensure Quality of automation scripts. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-2 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

Testing expertise – Lead the investigation and translation of business requirements into test cases. Design and manage end-to-end testing activities for various projects across the business. Use your expertise in software development testing to provide clients with quality products that meet business and system requirements.

Leveraging technology – Become a technology expert. Share your knowledge by introducing and enabling team members to better manage their projects.

Project coordination – Identify obstacles or risks that may impact a project’s timeline or success and provide regular status updates to the business. Keep the lines of communication open with stakeholders, and escalat[?] issues when necessary. Ensure that all test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned to your project’s timeline, budget and goals.

Who You Are

You can demonstrate experience in software development testing, automation, and software process improvement. At least 4 years of hands on experience in UI automation using Selenium, paired with expertise in at least one programming language (Java, C#, Python etc).

It’s an asset if you have experience with API testing using tools, and if you are familiar with CICD tools like Jenkins or Azure DevOps. Good knowledge in SQL is a pre‑requisite. Prior experience in Parasoft, Agile/Scrum environment and Banking is desirable.
