MOBILE MENTAL HEALTH & ADDICTIONS CLINIC – SOUTHWEST ONTARIO

The Ontario government is launching a mobile mental health and addictions clinic in partnership with Medavie Health Services to provide timely care in Huron, Perth, Bruce, and Wellington counties. The mobile clinics will operate by traveling between communities, reducing travel barriers for rural populations and serving more individuals.

Several positions are available for registered nurses and social workers to support individuals and families in these counties and surrounding areas. Successful candidates will collaborate with other mental health professionals such as psychologists.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Conduct in-home client visits with Mobile Mental Health Team members
  • Provide client support through Tele-Support access line
  • Possess knowledge of suicidal, self-destructive, homicidal, and aggressive behaviors
  • Assess client conditions and contributing factors considering environmental, familial, and social contexts
  • Conduct mental health and risk assessments, make referrals, and provide support involving clients, families, and professionals
  • Collaborate with law enforcement and Paramedic Services
  • Recommend and facilitate referrals to appropriate resources and locations
  • Understand psychotropic medications, expected outcomes, and when further evaluation is needed
  • Gather information from interviews and collateral sources such as family and other professionals
  • Apply knowledge of mental illness, cognitive functioning, medical co-morbidity, and substance abuse to inform clinical impressions
  • Integrate evidence-based practices into client care
  • Perform other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Extensive clinical experience with assessment and management of mental illness and addictions, in diverse settings and with varied age groups
  • Registered and in good standing with the Ontario College of Nurses
  • Ability to conduct psychological interviews and assessments
  • Experience working within interdisciplinary teams and in program development
  • Strong critical thinking, clinical judgment, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with adaptability to changing environments
  • Valid Driver’s license in good standing
  • Good attendance record
  • Successful criminal record and vulnerable sector check prior to employment

This position remains open until filled.

Bi-Weekly Hours: 80 hours, Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts
