Job Description
In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.
Reporting to the Clinical Coordinator, performs professional social work of advanced complexity. Assists in resolving complex psychosocial problems. Carries out a variety of casework and counselling methods; consults extensively with hospital staff and community agencies regarding the psychosocial aspects of the patient's situation and participates in the training of Social Work students.
Masters of Social Work degree (M.S.W.) from an accredited school of Social Work required. Current full registration with the BC College of Social Workers. Related social work experience, preferably in a medical setting, and demonstrated clinical competence.
