An established industry player is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join their inter-disciplinary team in a dynamic medical environment. This position provides a unique opportunity to work to your full scope of practice as a Social Worker in a medical setting. The position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced setting. You will be required to prioritize workload, formulate assessments, create intervention plans, make referrals for ongoing treatment and / or discharge planning. You will have the opportunity to provide casual relief coverage in a variety of Acute Care settings including the ICU, Medical Units, Women's and Children's Health Units and the Emergency Department.
Description :
As a Social Worker II, you will be a member of an inter-disciplinary team and provides a range of social work services to patients and their families. Your services may include : psychosocial assessment, resource-based interventions, individual, group and family treatment, risk screening, counselling, case management and coordination, transition or discharge planning, and prevention, promotion and public awareness activities.
Required Qualifications :
Completion of bachelor's degree in Social Work. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW).
Additional Required Qualifications :
Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Personal Directives Act, the Adult Guardianship and Trusteeship Act and the Child and Youth Family Enhancement Act would be beneficial. Effective time management and excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience in grief and loss is an asset. Knowledge of community resources and financial supports will be an asset.
