Foothills Medical Centre (FMC) is an Acute Care hospital with over 1,100 beds located on the west side of Calgary, Alberta. It is the Trauma Centre for Southern Alberta, Eastern British Columbia and Western Saskatchewan, providing the majority of In-Patient Neurological services in Calgary. FMC collaborates with the University of Calgary medical teaching program and the Libin Cardiovascular Institute. Allied Health staff are integral to the interdisciplinary team, offering patient and family-centered care. The current caseload for this position is within the Calgary Epilepsy Program, but may change based on operational needs. Under management and Clinical Leadership, you will perform assessment, treatment, education, and management duties related to patients in the ambulatory Epilepsy Clinic. Success in this role requires understanding patient- and family-centered care strategies that reflect the diverse needs of our populations, including ethno-cultural, equity-seeking, racialized, faith-based, LGBTQ2S+, vulnerable, marginalized, disabled, and all age groups.
As a Psychologist II, you will provide advanced clinical services such as psychological assessment, diagnosis, intervention, consultation, and education to the interprofessional team and patients/families. You may also provide clinical leadership and coordination within an assigned program area. This position involves working with complex cases requiring a multidisciplinary approach, ensuring practices are evidence-based and adhere to psychology standards, ethics, policies, legislation, and regulations. You will lead, facilitate, or participate in program development, policy and service planning, staff development, quality improvement, evaluation, and research activities. Supervision of doctoral psychology residents, interns, provisional psychologists, psychometrists, and other team members may be part of your responsibilities.
Doctoral degree in Psychology from a CPA or APA-accredited program, with active or eligible registration with the College of Alberta Psychologists. An equivalent education and experience may be considered. Additional requirements include PhD in Psychology and BLS for Health Care Providers Level C CPR certification within the last 12 months.
Experience with psychotherapy for adults with epilepsy, working in neurology or health-related settings, and providing virtual care are assets.
