About the job

As an enthusiastic and valued member of our Social Worker team, you will :

  • Develop reintegration and release plans with professional and community partners and inmates
  • Provide crisis intervention services
  • Prepare clinical assessments and statistical reports
  • Collaborate on multidisciplinary care plans
  • Facilitate group and individual rehabilitative programs
  • Offer one-on-one counseling
  • Engage in social work research and evaluate treatment programs
  • Provide consultation and training to staff

What you bring to the team

Mandatory requirements

  • You are currently certified and registered in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)

Specialized Knowledge and Experience

  • You have knowledge and experience in social work theories and practices, typically acquired through a BSW or MSW.
  • You can develop rehabilitative programs, conduct therapy, and provide crisis intervention.
  • You can utilize risk assessment tools and treatment options for appropriate classification placement.
  • You have familiarity with community support services to aid in reintegration plans.
  • You understand Ontario's justice system.
  • You can interpret and apply legislation such as the Ministry of Correctional Services Act, Social Work and Social Service Work Act, and Personal Health Information Protection Act, along with operational policies and procedures

Communication and Interpersonal Skills

  • Liaise seamlessly with clients, correctional staff, and community support services.
  • Deliver personalized counseling and assessments for offenders with complex needs.
  • Forge strong connections with diverse clients from varied backgrounds.
  • Collaborate effectively in multi-disciplinary settings, including community agencies.
  • Exhibit tact and discretion in discussing issues with offenders while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate exceptional written communication in preparing case notes, assessments, and reports.

Analytical, Assessment, and Problem-Solving Skills

  • Gather and compile data from multiple sources to identify inmate needs.
  • Develop and modify rehabilitative, treatment, and case management plans.
  • Assess inmates in crisis and apply appropriate therapeutic interventions.

Organizational Skills

  • You excel at juggling multiple priorities, consistently meeting deadlines, and maintaining thorough records
