Job summary

University of Toronto Mississauga is seeking a Social Media Strategist to develop creative, engaging, timely content for the central campus social channels and coordinate multimedia assets. Reporting to the Managing Editor, you will monitor analytics, report on performance, oversee work-study students, and collaborate with internal and external partners to advance strategic communications.

This hybrid role requires in-office presence at least three days per week, with opportunities to contribute

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience with launching, overseeing and monitoring branded institutional social media channels.
  • Proficiency with all relevant social media platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Tik Tok, etc.)
  • Familiarity with workflow management software (Asana, Sprout Social, etc.)
  • Proficiency with design platforms (Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)
  • Proficiency with social media audio/video production and collaboration
  • Proficiency with social media analytics and interpretation
  • Familiar with online media management platforms (YouTube, etc.)

Your opportunity:

The Office of Communications and Public Affairs is the proactive voice of the University of Toronto Mississauga. It handles all broad-based marketing initiatives on campus including branding, visual identity standards and advertising. Working collaboratively and strategically with academic and administrative units across the campus as well as with our community partners and media, we enhance understanding and support of U of T Mississauga nationally and internationally.

The Communications and Public Affairs team seeks a Social Media Strategist with the passion and skills to develop creative, engaging, timely and effective social media content that supports the campus’s strategic communications objectives. Reporting to the Managing Editor, this individual will create and coordinate multimedia-rich content for the central UTM social media accounts, monitor and report on social media activity, and help identify emerging opportunities to increase follower and engagement metrics. This individual will act as a campus resource, handle competing deadlines, oversee work-study students and build strong relationships with internal and external colleagues.

Term end date approximately- December 2027

This is a hybrid position Monday- Friday 8:45AM- 5:00PM requiring a minimum of three (3) days per week in the office. The successful candidate must be able to attend the workplace more frequently when required for business or operational purposes.

  • Proficiency with design platforms (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, etc.)

  • Proficiency with social media analytics and interpretation
