Job summary

New Brunswick Community College (NBCC) is seeking a creative Social Media Specialist to strengthen its online presence by developing engaging content that highlights student, staff, and community impact across New Brunswick.

You will lead NBCCs social strategy, produce content across photography and video on mobile devices, and collaborate with campuses to meet enrolment and branding goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or diploma in marketing, communications, PR, journalism, digital media or related field.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and content creation on mobile devices.
• Experience with social media management platforms and content analytics.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and execution of NBCC's social media strategy aligned with priorities and brand standards.
• Create, publish, and publish engaging content across NBCC's official channels including photos, video, and short-form formats; travel across NBCC campuses and events for storytelling.
• Manage the social content calendar across channels including review, approvals, and publishing.
• Foster engagement via community management and social listening; respond to inquiries and monitor conversations.
• Analyze performance data and trends to optimize content and inform strategic decisions.
• Serve as subject-matter expert on social media and advise departments and initiatives.
• Build relationships with students, staff, alumni, and partners to amplify authentic NBCC stories.

Job Summary

In this role, you will help strengthen NBCC's online presence by creating compelling content, fostering engagement, and showcasing the impact of our students, staff, alumni, and communities across New Brunswick.

• Salary: $53,742 - $75,114 CAD yearly

What you'll do

• Lead the development and execution of NBCC's social media strategy, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities, brand standards, enrolment objectives, and strategic communications goals.
• Create, capture, curate, and publish engaging content across NBCC's official social media channels, including written content, photography, mobile video, stories, reels, contests, and emerging content formats. Travel throughout New Brunswick to campuses, events, and community activities to identify compelling stories and create social-first content.
• Manage the social media content calendar, coordinating the planning, review, approval, and publishing of content across official social media channels.
• Foster engagement through community management and social listening, responding to inquiries, monitoring conversations, escalating issues as appropriate, and supporting issues management activities when required.
• Analyze performance data, audience insights, and digital trends to optimize content, improve results, and inform strategic decision-making.
• Serve as the College's subject-matter expert on social media, providing guidance, best practices, and strategic recommendations to departments and initiatives across NBCC.
• Build relationships with students, staff, alumni, and community partners to identify and amplify authentic stories that support NBCC's brand and strategic priorities.

What you'll need

• Education: Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related discipline.
• Experience: Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of relevant experience.
• Communication skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Technical skills:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated experience creating social media content, including photography, video, and short-form content using mobile devices and content creation tools for multiple audiences and platforms.
  • Experience using enterprise social media management and scheduling platforms.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms, analytics, audience engagement, and content optimization.
  • Demonstrated track record in prioritizing and time management with the ability to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines and competing priorities.
• Professional skills:
  • Ability to work proactively, independently, and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • A highly collaborative attitude focused on providing the best products and solutions for the team.
  • Ability to make sound recommendations, adapt quickly, and respond effectively to changing priorities.
• Candidates must clearly demonstrate how they meet these qualifications in their resume and portfolio.
