The Professional Women’s Hockey League (PWHL) is seeking an experienced and passionate individual for the Social Media Manager position with PWHL Vancouver. The Social Media Manager is responsible for leading all PWHL Vancouver social media efforts, including strategy development and content posting. This role is key in growing the PWHL Vancouver fan base and supporting various elements of the PWHL ecosystem, such as ticket sales, partnerships, and broadcasting.

Responsibilities include:

  • Developing and executing a comprehensive social media and digital marketing strategy.
  • Creating engaging content regularly across channels.
  • Growing and maintaining a vibrant online fan community.
  • Reporting on social media performance to inform future strategies.

These tasks will be coordinated with and supervised by the Director, Team Business Operations, PWHL Vancouver.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develop a season-long content calendar for all team social media platforms, balancing promotional, informative, and entertaining content.
  2. Implement a fan engagement and community growth strategy across platforms, fostering interaction and responding to followers.
  3. Tailor content strategies for each social media platform (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, etc.).
  4. Create and edit graphics and copy to showcase team achievements, behind-the-scenes moments, and personality.
  5. Oversee scheduling and coordination of the Team Photographer and Videographer for game, practice, and event coverage.
  6. Identify growth opportunities, including new platforms and features.
  7. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging platforms to keep the league's social media innovative and relevant.
  8. Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to maintain consistent branding and content.
  9. Coordinate with marketing and communications teams for alignment on branding and promotional initiatives.
  10. Lead real-time coverage of games, including updates and highlights.
  11. Cover team events and press conferences as needed.
  12. Amplify successful content across other channels and platforms.
  13. Uphold the league’s professional image and values in all interactions.
  14. Monitor and moderate content to ensure adherence to guidelines and policies, maintaining a positive environment.
  15. Develop strategic partnerships with influencers and brands to expand reach.
  16. Analyze social media metrics, report on KPIs, and recommend improvements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Social Media Manager, preferably in sports or entertainment.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms, trends, and best practices.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud.
  • Ability to shoot and edit photo/video content.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Creative and innovative thinking.
  • Proficiency with social media analytics tools.
  • Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
