Job summary

Evertz Microsystems Limited is seeking a Process Engineer - SMT Support to develop, optimize, and sustain SMT manufacturing processes for broadcast equipment. You will support SMT lines, document processes, and lead root-cause investigations to improve yields and cycle times.

The role collaborates with Quality, Production, Test, Supply Chain and Design Engineering. In-office in Burlington, Ontario, 40 hours/week with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of SMT process engineering experience in electronics manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of SMT assembly equipment and PCB manufacturing processes.
• Experience with IPC-A-610, J-STD-001, and electronic assembly quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day engineering support for SMT production lines including stencil printing, SPI, pick-and-place, reflow soldering, AOI, and selective solder processes.
• Develop, document, and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions, machine programs, and setup standards.
• Lead root cause investigations for yield, quality, and reliability issues using structured problem-solving techniques.
• Optimize cycle times, throughput, setup reduction, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).
• Support New Product Introduction (NPI) activities including DFM reviews, process validation, pilot builds, and production ramp-up.
• Analyze solder defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Collaborate with Quality, Production, Test, Supply Chain, and Design Engineering teams.
• Validate new SMT equipment, tooling, materials, and process changes through controlled experiments and qualification plans.
• Develop process metrics and monitor yields, defects, scrap, rework, and productivity trends.
• Ensure compliance with IPC standards and customer quality requirements.
