PROGRAM SUMMARY:
Smithers & District Transit provides public transportation, 6 days a week, Monday through Saturday, with a combination of a curb-to-curb service (in the Smithers & Regional District only) and a bus route service operating between Telkwa, Smithers and Witset.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Transit Driver is responsible for providing safe, reliable, and courteous transportation services to members of the public while promoting an accessible and positive transit experience. Reporting to the Transit Program Manager, the Transit Driver operates transit vehicles in accordance with established schedules, policies, safety standards, and applicable regulations. The position requires a strong commitment to customer service, professionalism, and safety while assisting passengers of varying abilities, maintaining accurate records, conducting vehicle inspections, handling fares, and ensuring the cleanliness and proper operation of transit vehicles. As a representative of Smithers Transit, the Transit Driver is expected to interact respectfully and positively with passengers, coworkers, and community members while supporting the overall delivery of high-quality transit service
