BUILD IT By Design is seeking a Skilled Labourer for a hospitality construction project in Jasper, AB. This full-time, on-site role involves site prep, material handling, and assisting trades, with flexibility for a 10-days-on/4-days-off rotation or full on-site deployment.

You'll work with Site Supervisors and trades, travel as needed, and must be dependable in a fast-paced environment. Prior framing, drywall, flooring, tiling, carpentry, and finishing experience is essential.

Qualifications

• 5+ years as a skilled Handyman in restaurant, retail, or commercial construction.
• Hands-on framing, drywall, flooring, tiling, carpentry, finishing.
• Knowledge of construction safety protocols and hazard awareness.
• Ability to swing a hammer or use a drill with reliability.
• Accountability for outcomes and quality workmanship.
• Experience with historical renovations or luxury hotels is a plus.
• Forward-thinking, resilient, and solution-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Prepare sites by cleaning and removing hazards.
• Load and unload materials; move them efficiently to work zones.
• Work with trades and site supervisors on interior renovations.
• Assist with scaffolding, shoring, and braces installation.
• Waterproof surfaces and finish poured concrete.
• Keep work areas clean and tools secured.
• Direct questions to Site Supervisor or Project Manager.

Position Overview

This is a full-time, on-site Skilled Labourer role supporting a significant hospitality construction project in Jasper, AB. The position will be based on-site for the duration of the project and will involve physical labour, including site preparation, loading and unloading materials, operating hand and power tools, and assisting Site Supervisors and trades with a variety of construction tasks. The project requires flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to travel as needed. Candidates may work a 10-days-on / 4 days off rotation or remain on-site for the full duration of the project, depending on their preference. The scope and timeline may evolve throughout the assignment, so we are looking for someone who is dependable, adaptable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced construction environment while maintaining high standards for quality and safety.

Who You Are

• possess 5+ years of experience as a skilled Handyman in a restaurant, retail and/or commercial construction and site development.
• Hands-on experience with framing, drywall installation, flooring, tiles, carpentry, and finishing.
• Knowledgeable in construction safety protocols and experienced in identifying potential hazards.
• Don't mind swinging a hammer or working the drill.
• Take responsibility for your success and failure.
• Believe in delivering excellence.
• Find solutions to problems that stop others from forging ahead.
• Good to have: prior experience working on historical building renovations or luxury hotel properties (e.g., 5-star hotels)

Key Responsibilities

• Prep construction sites by cleaning and removing obstacles or hazards.
• Load and unload construction materials and ensure they are efficiently moved to the required areas.
• Work alongside other trades and site supervisors to complete interior renovation tasks, such as framing, drywall, painting, and more.
• Assist with the erection of scaffolding, shoring, and braces.
• Waterproof surfaces and finish freshly poured concrete.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, removing debris and securing tools.
• Respond to questions from site workers, subcontractors, and others by directing inquiries to the appropriate personnel, like the Site Supervisor or Project Manager.

Safety And Compliance

• Adhere to health and safety regulations and ensure all team members follow site safety practices
• Wear and enforce the use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Report hazards or safety concerns promptly to the Site Supervisor
• Must have: Basic Health & Safety certifications as per Alberta construction requirements.
