The Company - PCH Builders

Backed by a highly capable, credentialed, and professional team, our family-owned company delivers Urban Development, Mountain Development, Property Management, and Civil Works across Alberta.

For more than 13 years, we have built over 400 homes across Calgary and surrounding areas, ranging from apartments to luxury detached residences. We also manage more than 300 rental homes, giving us a deep understanding of the needs of homeowners, residents, and investors alike.

Our 64 people team brings decades of hands‑on construction experience, complemented by engineering, master's, and MBA credentials. Together, we combine technical expertise, disciplined execution, and a personal commitment to guide every project with confidence and deliver thoughtfully crafted spaces where families, communities, and investments grow.

Our company has experienced rapid growth in recent years, and to support this expansion, we’re looking for passionate individuals ready to grow with us as we continue to transform the Calgary and Bow Valley communities.

The Opportunity

PCH Builders is seeking a proactive, highly accountable Site Supervisor to take ownership of day-to-day construction execution across projects in Calgary, Cochrane, and surrounding areas. You will lead site coordination across trades, labour, materials, logistics, safety, quality, and inspections, turning plans into safe, efficient, and well‑sequenced work in the field.

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Site Supervisor owns site execution and is accountable for delivering the project On Time, On Spec, and On Budget. Through Extreme Ownership, you will anticipate constraints, remove roadblocks, verify quality before work advances, and make decisions that protect the safety, schedule, budget, and overall success of the project.

Core Responsibilities
Site Planning & Daily Execution
  • Plan and direct daily site activities, trade sequencing, access, logistics, and look-ahead schedules.
  • Maintain a six-week look-ahead plan for major milestones, trade sequencing, procurement, and constraints, supported by a detailed two-week execution plan for daily site activities.
  • Partner with the Project Coordinator and Project Manager to resolve schedule constraints, confirm priorities, and keep planned site activities moving forward.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, site personnel, equipment, and deliveries in the field to prevent conflicts and maintain an uninterrupted workflow.
  • Participate in the PCH team’s daily standup to report progress and rapidly address roadblocks.
Technical & Operational Oversight
  • Review and work from architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil plans and specifications.
  • Determine and request the equipment, materials, and manpower required for each project phase through established company channels.
  • Monitor productivity and workmanship for compliance with drawings, specifications, approved methods, and the project plan.
  • Coordinate inspections with the Construction Manager, consultants, authorities, and other required parties.
  • Resolve on‑site issues promptly to maintain efficient project flow.
Safety, Site Controls & Maintenance
  • Enforce legislated health, safety, and environmental requirements, as well as company policies.
  • Conduct documented site inspections, hazard assessments, toolbox meetings, and corrective follow-up; elevate incidents, unsafe conditions, and unresolved non‑compliance promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, orderly site and ensure subcontractors leave work areas ready for subsequent activities.
  • Maintain rigorous control of company inventory, tools, and equipment.
Quality, Completion & Deficiency Management
  • Formulate a detailed construction plan before each task begins, including scope, sequence, resources, risks, and execution methodology.
  • Brief trades and team members so they fully understand the scope and required method of execution.
  • Establish and enforce quality gates throughout each task: inspect work in progress, correct deviations promptly, and complete a final verification before subsequent work proceeds.
  • Manage task‑by‑task progression toward final occupancy and resolve pre‑delivery deficiencies.
  • Create, assign, track, and confirm completion of deficiencies, completing any items that remain outstanding.
Materials, Deliveries & Inventory
  • Be present to receive material deliveries and send the corresponding packing slip to Procurement immediately.
  • Complete the Material Return Form and process returns within 24 hours.
  • Track materials, tools, and equipment accurately and identify needs early enough to avoid schedule disruption.
Reporting, Communication & Collaboration
  • Maintain accurate daily reports and communicate progress, constraints, deficiencies, risks, and field changes to the Project Manager.
  • Participate in weekly sprint‑planning meetings with the Project Manager and project team to confirm priorities, dependencies, resources, and ownership for the upcoming work.
  • Conduct site walkthroughs with subcontractors to clarify scope.
  • Work closely with Project Coordinators, Procurement, Planning, consultants, suppliers, and the wider PCH team.
Budget, Risk & Problem‑Solving
  • Deliver construction within the assigned budget, identify risks early, and communicate practical mitigation plans.
  • Monitor identified risks and mitigation actions throughout execution, adjusting the plan when delays, rework, cost pressures, resource constraints, or site bottlenecks emerge.
  • Escalate blind spots and proposed solutions early to maintain alignment with the On Time, On Spec, and On Budget philosophy.
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Education: A diploma in construction management or an equivalent combination of relevant trade qualifications and construction experience. A bachelor’s degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field is often preferred.
  • Field Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience supervising construction sites in residential, multi‑family, commercial, civil, or comparable project environments.
  • Drawing Interpretation: Strong proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and civil drawings and specifications.
  • Site Coordination: Demonstrated success coordinating subcontractors, inspections, labour, materials, equipment, deliveries, and site logistics across active construction projects.
  • Safety and Project Controls: Working knowledge of construction safety legislation, quality control, scheduling, cost management, and deficiency management.
  • Leadership and Judgment: Proven ability to lead site teams, make sound decisions, plan proactively, and resolve problems effectively.
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear direction and maintain respectful professional relationships.
  • Digital Tools: Comfortable using digital collaboration and project‑management tools; proficiency with Microsoft 365 is an asset.
What Is Required
  • On‑Site Work & Travel: Availability to work five days per week at active project sites across Calgary, Cochrane, and surrounding Bow Valley regions.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work overtime or weekends when required by critical project activities.
  • Driver’s Licence: Valid Class 5 driver’s licence and reliable transportation to travel between job sites.
  • Safety Credentials: Current safety certifications appropriate to the role and project requirements.
  • Background Check: Successful completion of a criminal background check.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to work outdoors in changing conditions, walk active construction sites, stand for extended periods, lift up to 50+ pounds, and safely perform the physical requirements of site supervision.
