CMP Groups as a construction and development management company is seeking an experienced “Project Superintendent” to join the company team based in Vancouver, BC and contribute to our commitment to delivering high quality projects on time and within budget.
About The Role
This position gets involved in multiple projects, ranging from townhome developments to Tenant Improvement (TI) work. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in multi-unit construction and a proven ability to manage subcontractors while following established project procedures. Ensuring high-quality execution, adherence to budget, schedule, and safety standards is essential. As a Project Superintendent, you will report directly to the Project Manager or Director and be primarily based on-site, with occasional attendance required at office meetings.
Responsibilities
• Work closely with the Project Manager (PM) and supervise the construction workforce and activities to deliver projects successfully on time and on budget.
• Review project drawings and scope of works and help PM in hiring qualified trades and drafting contracts.
• Perform value engineering and attend the required pre-award meetings.
• Provide schedule input to PM and create work plans and detailed look ahead trade schedules to determine the needed manpower, materials, and equipment requirements.
• Execute construction plans and monitor trade progress and issue corrective action plans to trades on weekly basis.
• Collaborate with PM to perform QA/QC walkthroughs and checklists and assign consultant deficiency report items to relevant trades and follow up to confirm completion.
• Review project and trade shop drawings for identifying constructability issues and raising RFIs.
• Maintain and update project As-Built drawings by reviewing and incorporating issued RFIs, COs, and SIs.
• Review and examine trade progress draws, change requests, substantial performance claims by assessing site conditions, trade scope of works, and implementing cost saving solutions.
• Notify PM of any trade caused delays, inadequate production rates, and quality issues along with providing corrective measures directives to trades.
• Perform safety meetings and walk throughs and help PM to implement the safety programs and maintain the safety reports and documentations required by WSBC.
• Provide coordination reports and lead site meetings with trades, sub contractors, clients, and consultants.
• Maintain all project documentations, daily logs, city inspection reports and certificates, consultant reports and compile all documentations needed for project completion and occupancy permits.
• Attend and participate in company internal meetings and contribute to the overall
company and project procedures.
Requirements
• A minimum of 10 years of previous construction experience as Site Superintendent.
• Strong knowledge of reconstruction and character house construction along with expert understanding of wood frame and concrete structure and demolition processes.
• Proficient in reviewing construction drawings and specifications, understanding of scope of work and project schedules and ability to sequence the work considering structural constraints.
• Strong leadership and supervisory skills along with positive attitude to manage trades and communicate with all stakeholders.
• Solid understanding of construction industry processes and BC Building Code.
• Experienced in implementing cost management processes, project planning and scheduling, safety and environmental procedures, construction methods, and quality controls.
• Working knowledge of computer and ability to use MS Project or similar Scheduling software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must have own vehicle and driver’s license.
