Brief Overview

The Project Superintendent leads the project team, interacts with the project team, consultants, and owners to ensure a safe and productive environment. Responsible for all field aspects including budget, schedule, safety, and performance. Provides leadership and mentoring to the project staff, reporting to the General Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor, train, manage, and oversee the field team.
  • Implement schedules, coordinate resources, and control costs related to labor, equipment, and materials.
  • Communicate with owners, clients, unions, and labor relations.
  • Maintain construction procedures, safety protocols, and job safety analysis.
  • Participate in pre-qualification and trade selection processes.
  • Monitor trade contractors' work and schedule adherence.
  • Conduct site setup, equipment planning, and material coordination.
  • Assist in developing and executing project plans and schedules.
  • Support pre-tender scheduling and trade contract development.
  • Ensure trade commitments and monitor project schedules.
  • Coordinate with project managers to ensure work complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Meet contractual obligations in specific project areas.
  • Lead site health and safety programs and safety committees.
  • Manage major equipment usage and lifts.
  • Resolve field construction issues and develop the field team.
  • Participate in project closeout and punch list completion.
  • Guide field staff on local regulations, bylaws, and labor laws.
  • Assist with contract execution and innovative construction solutions.
  • Monitor productivity related to schedule and cash flow.

Required Qualifications

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in construction or related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in high-rise/ICI construction.
  • Experience managing projects from start to finish.
  • Current health and safety certifications.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Strong leadership and relationship-building skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction techniques, safety, and local regulations.
  • Experience with Procore and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Commitment to quality assurance and willingness to take initiative.
  • Ability to lead and mentor large teams.
