Job summary

Akash Homes is seeking a Site Superintendent to own residential construction from excavation to possession, delivering safe, on-schedule homes that meet quality standards. You’ll manage multiple sites, coordinate trade partners and provide daily leadership to Site Assistants and Technicians.

You’ll drive accountability, coach staff, and collaborate with Estimating and Drafting to resolve issues, while ensuring safety, clean sites and timely possessions across Western Canada.

Qualifications

• Previous experience supervising residential construction sites or independently managing homebuilding projects.
• Strong knowledge of residential construction practices, sequencing and trade coordination.
• Strong understanding of Alberta Building Code and OH&S requirements.

The Role

We are seeking a Site Superintendent to join Akash Homes. This role is responsible for taking ownership of residential construction from excavation through possession, ensuring homes are delivered safely, on schedule, and to Akash Homes’ quality standards.

You’ll manage multiple homes at different stages of construction, coordinate and hold trade partners accountable, solve issues in the field, and work closely with our internal teams to keep construction moving. You’ll also provide day-to-day leadership and coaching to Site Assistants and Technicians, helping build a strong and accountable field team.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows residential construction, takes pride in the finished product, and is comfortable making decisions and solving problems on the ground.

At Akash Homes, our Site Superintendents are central to that process. You’ll have the autonomy to manage your sites while working closely with trade partners and internal teams to keep builds moving.

You’ll also have an opportunity to develop the people around you. Our Site Assistants work alongside experienced Site Superintendents to build their construction knowledge and grow their careers, which means coaching, setting expectations and sharing what you know are important parts of this role.

Top 3 Priorities for Your First 6 Months

• Own your builds from excavation through possession. Maintain accurate schedules, stay ahead of potential delays, and consistently deliver homes that meet Akash Homes’ expectations for quality, safety and workmanship.
• Build accountability across yoursites. Develop strong working relationships with trade partners while setting clear expectations around schedule, quality, safety and completion. Address issues quickly and ensure work is completed properly.
• Strengthen the team around you. Provide consistent leadership and coaching to Site Assistants and Technicians while building strong communication between the field and office teams to keep projects moving.

What You’ll Own

• Manage all phases of residential construction from excavation through possession.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date construction schedules across multiple homes and stages of construction.
• Coordinate trade partners, suppliers, inspections and deliveries to maintain construction timelines.
• Build strong working relationships with trade partners while holding them accountable for quality, schedule, safety and completion expectations.
• Monitor site progress, anticipate potential delays or issues, and take action to keep builds moving.
• Conduct regular site walkthroughs and inspections to ensure work meets Akash Homes’ quality standards and applicable building requirements.
• Identify deficiencies early, coordinate corrective work and follow through to completion.
• Complete pre-possession walkthroughs and support the resolution of pre-and post-possession deficiencies.
• Ensure sites remain clean, organized and compliant with Akash Homes’ safety standards and OH&S requirements.
• Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching and guidance to Site Assistants and Technicians.
• Set clear expectations with the site team around quality, timelines,professionalismand accountability.
• Work closely with Estimating and Drafting to identify and resolve construction discrepancies or issues.
• Coordinate with Sales and Customer Experience regarding construction progress and possession timelines.
• Partner with warranty to support a smooth transition from construction through possession and post-possession.
• Communicate proactively with internal teams when timelines, site conditions or other issues may impact the build or homeowner.
• Represent Akash Homes professionally with homeowners, trade partners, suppliers, inspectors and other external partners.
• Identify opportunities to improve site coordination, scheduling, communication and construction processes as Akash Homes continues to grow.

What You’ll Bring

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple homes at different stages of construction while maintaining quality and schedule.
• Ability to assess workmanship, identify construction issues and determine the appropriate next steps to resolve them.
• Confidence holding trade partners accountable and addressing quality, scheduling or performance concerns directly and professionally.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make sound decisions in the field.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with trades, employees, homeowners and internal departments.
• Experience leading, coaching or mentoring others on-site.
• Strong organization and follow-through with the ability to manage changing priorities in a fast-paced construction environment.
• A hands-on approach and willingness to step in when needed to keep a build moving.
• Openness to feedback, changing processes and continuous improvement as the business grows.
• A valid driver’s licence and reliable vehicle to travel between construction sites.

We’re less concerned about formal degrees and more interested in your ability to build well, lead people and deliver results. That said, the following would be considered assets:

• Diploma or coursework in Construction Management, Building Science, Construction Engineering Technology or a related field.
• Experience with construction management software such as BuildPro.
• Previous experience working within a high-volume residential homebuilder.
