Job summary

Akash Homes in Calgary, Alberta is hiring a Site Assistant to join our Construction team. This hands-on role provides exposure to the full residential construction process, from framing to inspections, under the guidance of a Site Superintendent.

You will learn construction standards, coordinate with trades, and develop leadership skills while helping keep projects on schedule and safe. The position offers growth within a fast‑growing western Canada homebuilder.

Qualifications

• Experience in residential construction is an asset.
• Hands-on construction or related trades experience would be an asset.
• Interest in learning the full residential construction process and growing into a leadership role.
• Comfort using hand tools and power tools safely.
• Understanding of basic construction principles and site safety practices.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Support homes through all stages of residential construction.
• Walk homes and job sites regularly to monitor progress and identify quality, safety, cleanliness, or scheduling concerns.
• Prepare homes and sites for upcoming trades, inspections, walkthroughs, and possession.
• Assist with quality control checks, deficiency identification, and completion of outstanding items.
• Follow up with trade partners on work in progress and communicate delays, deficiencies, or concerns to the Site Superintendent.
• Perform hands-on construction and finishing work, including minor framing adjustments, drywall repairs, painting and touch-ups.
• Receive, move, stage, and organize materials needed to keep construction progressing.
• Maintain safe access to homes under construction, including pathways, temporary walkways, and seasonal snow and ice removal.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized homes and job sites, including construction debris removal, sweeping, vacuuming, and general cleanup.
• Safely operate hand tools and power tools to complete assigned site work.
• Support site signage, security, and general site readiness.
• Learn Akash construction standards, processes, and systems and take on increasing responsibility as your skills and experience develop.
• Be ready to step in wherever needed. Residential construction moves quickly, and our site teams work together to get the job done.

The Role

We are seeking a Site Assistant to join our Construction team in Calgary, Alberta.

The Opportunity

If your goal is to build a long-term career in residential construction and continue taking on greater responsibility as you develop, this is a strong place to start. At Akash Homes, we hire Site Assistants with growth in mind. This role is designed to give you hands‑on exposure to the full residential construction process while building the technical knowledge, judgement, coordination skills, and leadership capability needed to progress within our Construction team. You will work closely alongside an experienced Site Superintendent and learn how homes move through each stage of construction, how trades are coordinated, what quality looks like, how homes are prepared for inspections and possession, and what it takes to keep multiple builds moving safely and on schedule. This is a hands‑on role. You should be comfortable picking up a power tool, moving materials, completing minor repairs, clearing snow, or cleaning a home when that is what the site needs. At the same time, you will be learning the coordination, quality, and leadership side of residential construction. We believe strongly in coaching and developing our people. As your skills and experience grow, you will be given opportunities to take on increasing responsibility, expand your knowledge of site operations, and continue progressing within our Construction team.

Top 3 Priorities for Your First 6 Months

• Learn the build. Develop a strong understanding of the Akash residential construction process from the early stages of construction through possession, including construction sequencing, quality standards, trade coordination, and inspection requirements.
• Keep homes moving. Become a reliable partner to your Site Superintendent by anticipating what is needed next, preparing homes for trades and inspections, identifying deficiencies, and helping remove obstacles that could impact the construction schedule.
• Build toward greater ownership. Develop the judgement, communication, construction knowledge, and leadership skills needed to take on increasing responsibility within the Construction team.

What You’ll Own

• Work alongside the Site Superintendent to support homes through all stages of residential construction.

• Maintain clean, safe, and organized homes and job sites, including construction debris removal, sweeping, vacuuming, and general cleanup.
• Safely operate hand tools and power tools to complete assigned site work.
• Support site signage, security, and general site readiness.
• Learn Akash construction standards, processes, and systems and take on increasing responsibility as your skills and experience develop.
• Be ready to step in wherever needed. Residential construction moves quickly, and our site teams work together to get the job done.

What You’ll Bring

• Previous residential construction experience is an asset, but it is not the only way to get your start with us.
• Hands‑on construction, renovation, general labour, carpentry, framing, finishing, or other trade experience would be an asset.
• A genuine interest in learning the full residential construction process and growing into a construction leadership role.
• Comfort using hand tools and power tools safely.
• An understanding of basic construction principles and job site safety practices.
• Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to shift priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• A proactive approach to problem‑solving. You notice what needs to be done and are willing to take initiative.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with trades, supervisors, and other members of the construction team.
• Reliability, accountability, and pride in the quality of your work.
• Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
• Physical ability to perform hands‑on construction work and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Reliable transportation. A truck is preferred. A clean Driver’s Abstract is required.
