About the workplace

We seek a Site Reliability Engineer with cloud expertise to maintain, enhance, and secure our cloud platform. Responsibilities include managing Observability tools and Infrastructure as Code within the Vancity Cloud Engineering team.

This is a 6-month contract with hybrid work arrangements, primarily from the Vancity head office and your Lower Mainland home office. In-office work may be required at least once a week.

Typical daily tasks include:

• Develop Infrastructure as Code solutions
• Share knowledge and mentor colleagues
• Create queries, dashboards, and reports to interpret data
• Monitor and resolve IT work orders and incident tickets within SLA
• Utilize project management tools like Azure DevOps
• Follow Vancity's processes, including change management
• Apply Well Architected Framework principles
• Document work thoroughly for the knowledge base
• Participate in 24/7 on-call support
• Maintain a security-first approach

Qualifications:

• 5+ years in software development or production operations
• Strong understanding of Windows/Linux systems
• Web (HTTP) knowledge
• Experience with monitoring tools (Grafana, Splunk)
• Support and troubleshooting experience in 24x7 environments
• Automation experience (CI/CD, configuration management, Infrastructure as Code)
• Scripting skills in PowerShell and Terraform

Preferred skills:

• Experience with VCS (GIT)
• Cloud experience (Azure, AWS, GCP)
• Database experience (SQL/MySQL)
• Build and release tools knowledge (Azure DevOps)
• Microservices and container orchestration familiarity
