Job summary

BHP is seeking an Area Construction Manager for the Jansen potash project in Saskatchewan, Canada. This senior role leads site construction across surface or underground scopes, coordinating engineering, procurement, and commissioning activities to deliver safe, on-budget outcomes.

The role collaborates with multiple interfaces to drive risk management and performance. The position supports a major development with substantial job creation, relocation assistance, and onsite accommodation

Qualifications

• 10+ years of Construction & Project Management experience in Industrial and Mining projects.
• Experience in both surface and underground construction.
• Delivery experience across engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and operations.
• Ability to lead an Owner’s Risk and HSS safety program at the Jansen site.
• Delivery within a matrix organization and to lead without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe management and delivery of construction contracts and site services throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide leadership through influence with the site team to deliver scope per BHP standards and BOS behaviors.
• Establish and deliver the JS2 Construction Risk Management program to measure and mitigate risk.
• Implement the Owner’s assurance program for construction execution.
• Manage key project interfaces to ensure safe, on-time, on-scope delivery across multiple interfaces.
• Identify critical activities and drive continuous improvement in project delivery.
• Ensure robust work planning (AWP) to de-risk schedules and maximize productivity.
• Oversee site contract execution and analyze to maximize safety and financial performance.
