PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

As the Specialist S&C Tunnel Electrical, you will lead and manage the MacDonald, Connaught and Shaughnessy tunnels and their electrical transmission and control systems.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, service and repair industrial electrical equipment, system monitoring hardware and associated electrical controls in the Macdonald, Connaught, and Shaughnessy tunnel as well as power substations and subsequent switch gear and power infrastructure hardware.
  • Position, maintain and install distribution and control equipment such as switches, lighting fixtures, conduit and electrical controls, relays, circuit breaker panels, switch gear and fuse enclosures.
  • Read and understand blueprints of electrical circuits for all construction, maintenance, tunnel, and infrastructure.
  • Follow safety procedures for all electrical isolation and maintenance tasks.
  • Manage the layout and installation of various electrical circuits using residential and commercial building standards.
  • Follow safety requirements for electrical installations.
  • Dynamically assess tunnel operations requirements and assist with coordinating and refining roles with the Tunnel Management.
  • Use test instruments and various tools necessary to perform tasks.
  • Safe use of common hand and power tools.
  • Work on call to ensure 24/7 coverage for the tunnels and infrastructure assets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Licensed electrician (red seal) in the province of British Columbia.
  • Working knowledge in high voltage 4160V/7.2KV/34.5KV, primary power and all types of insulation and wiring.
  • Must have expert and practical knowledge of 480, 600, 240/208/120 VAC single and three phase systems.
  • Must possess a valid class 5 driver’s license, preference given to class 3 with air brake endorsement.
  • Must be able to obtain and hold a CROR rules card, minimum level “D”.
  • Previous work history providing the ability to attain an FSR-A ticket (Master Electrician) an asset.
  • Knowledge of all relevant industry codes including the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC).
  • Knowledge and understanding of electrical theory and its application to lighting, power and control equipment.
  • Work outdoors in all types of weather conditions for long periods of time at heights and in confined spaces and achieve required certifications.
  • Ability to respond to emergent work past normal working hours.
  • Ability to travel alone and work independently.

The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $125,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
