Job summary

Epiroc, a global leader in mining and construction equipment, is seeking a Shop Technician to help shape a safe, efficient workshop environment for prototype battery-electric vehicles. This onsite role focuses on electrical systems, diagnostics, and fabrication in a fast-paced setting.

The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of industrial electrical experience, a BC Electrical Ticket, and a collaborative, detail-oriented mindset to support rigorous safety standards and high-quality workmanship.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years hands-on industrial electrician experience.
• BC electrical ticket required.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work with diverse teams and in fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to safety and high-quality workmanship.

Responsibilities

• Pull electrical permits, ensure work is to code and communicate with inspectors.
• Create reports for electrical installs, repairs and upgrades.
• Work with high voltage and high-current equipment and control systems.
• Design and implement circuit protection, power distribution modules, relays, sensors and actuators.
• Work with inverters, motors, converters, batteries and related components.
• Work with PLC, DCS and other control systems.
• Create detailed wiring schematics and diagrams; perform calculations and troubleshooting.
• Program PLCs and perform arc flash training/oversight.
• Welding, machining, and fabrication tasks as needed.
• Oversee microgrid design and development; ensure health and safety in shop.

This role focuses on managing and shaping our workshop into highly safe and effective environment in which to create prototype battery-electric vehicles.

Work Type (Onsite/Hybrid/Remote):

Onsite

Responsibilities:

• Pull electrical permits, complete work to code, and communicate with electrical inspectors
• Create reports for new electrical installs, repairs, and upgrades
• Work with high voltage & high current equipment and associated control systems
• Design and implement circuit protection, power distribution modules, relays, sensors, and actuators.
• Work with inverters, motors, converters, and general electrical components such as contactors, relays, and batteries.
• Work with control systems such as PLC, DCS, etc.
• Create detailed wiring schematics and diagrams
• Mathematical calculations, problem-solving. General system troubleshooting
• Programing and trouble shooting PLCs
• Arc flash training, calculations, oversight
• Welding, machining, fabricating work
• Microgrid design, development and oversight
• Oversee health and safety in the shop
  
  

Knowledge/Education:

• Valid BC electrical ticket
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on industrial electrician experience
